Krofft Week: Wonderbug!

Aw yeah, Wonderbug is definitely in my top five Krofft shows, basically a live action speed buggy with a little Shazam! sprinkled in for good measure, what's not to love. Above is the Wonderbug toy cars made by Duncan (the yo-yo people).





Here's a whole display of them. I really need to track down one of these.






This is the Wonderbug pedal car, I wouldn't know where to put this but I pray i never see one at a flea market...

I am not surprised to see there is a Wonderbug puzzle by HG Toys, I am now convinced they made puzzles of my first communion.

I did not know however that there was a Wonderbug board game, the art work on the box is pretty great.

YAY! I love Wonderbug! One of the stars of the show who played Barry Buntra (David Levy) is now a psychology professor at Pepperdine University here in CA. And you know what? He loves fan mail! I got on the Pepperdine website, and sent him an e-mail once. He was very gracious and sweet, and offered to send me an autograph! I sent him one of my Krofft Supershow comics, (in storage) and he sent it back signed. So cool! Anyway, I have all most of the eps of this one too. In the words of C.C. (John-Anthony Bailey)
"The Big W rides again!"

Okay, that Duncan Wonder Bug is setting off those "I had that as a kid" alarms for me. I remember coming here, years ago, thinking I was nuts since I recalled a live-action Speed Buggy. I believe it was Brian who pointed me toward Wonder Bug. Today, I'm still nuts, but now I know there WAS a show like that!
