Henry Philip "Hank" McCoy was born in Dundee, Illinois, in the United States, to Norton and Edna McCoy. His father, Norton McCoy, is employed at a local nuclear power plant before Henry's birth and was once exposed to intense nuclear radiation, which appears to have caused his son's mutation. Hank is born with a vast intellect, unusually long arms and legs, and unusually large hands and feet for a human; in fact, his body's proportions are comparable to those of a gorilla and later stories reveal his nickname in school was "Magilla Gorilla".
This is the first version of the Beast I can remember. To me if he is not blue, furry, and drawn by George Perez he is not the Beast.
He first became furry in Amazing Adventures 11. Much like the Hulk, he was originally drawn gray, later mutating to his more familiar blue fur.
His fur turns blue in Amazing Adventures 14, but here is the cover from issue 16 which I think is incredibly cool.
But, this is where I remember first seeing the Beast I know and love:
My Beast is built on a CTVT purple muscle body with hands painted blue to match the head; suit designed by Daremo and printed by me; head from a Bowen statue and sized to scale; paints by yours truly.
I thought this would be how Mego would have made him back in 1976. They would not have made a furry suit, but the fur would be represented by a pattern and printed on the suit, similar to the suit worn by the Mego Thing; the short Hulk body made in blue plastic would be used as well.
Here he is with his BFF Wonder Man
Later the two would get their own comic book title
Here they are taking on Ultron!
Statue from which the head is from...
Always wanted to see these three together in Mego form. Today I get my wish!
I hope you enjoy my customs as much as I do, and, as always, thanks for looking!
Peace, Love, and Megos!
