    1977 Fleetwood Toys Catalog

Fleetwood toys was one of the biggest and most prolific manufacturers of Rack Toys during the 1970s and 80s.

In 1977, they were truly on top of their game as evidenced by the massive amount of licenses they had this year including the Marvel Comics Superheroes, Welcome Back Kotter, Starsky and Hutch, The Rookies, SWAT, Tarzan, the Space Sentinels even Ba-Ba Blacksheep!

It's so jam packed with cool rack toys, there is no way you can't find something you like.

Don't you mean Black Sheep Squadron? (Me-TV plays it on Sunday nights). I don't think you could get away w/ those guns w/ people shaped targets today, but some of those sets looked like fun. What happened to Charlie's Angels?

You know it wasn't until a few years ago, I realized those superhero figures also came painted? It was just something I don't recall seeing. Very cool.

I seem to recall at one point there was confusion over how those Marx figures were issued. Color ones had surfaced and stumped the band. Now it all makes sense.

Those wind up Superhero banks are really swell. Paper box, plastic character, metal wind key. Nice mix of materials.

I'd like to see those Fantastic Four cars up close. I've only seen them in the package, from a distance. You get that famous Fleetwood Ghost Rider set here.

The cars are kind of neat, I've had a couple, not sure if they got into the book or not.

^I think there's a nice pic of a packaged one, but the way they are packaged, you can only see them from the top. I'd like to see pics of the cars themselves.

                  EDITED TO ADD:

I found a decent pic of Reed's car, but he's still in the package. Still you can see the figure.

Here's a pick of all 4 cars from above again:

Fleetwood Toys were some of my favorites, I had the Ghost Rider cycle and the FF Thing car. Played with them until they practically fell apart. Could never find the a Human Torch one. Both that and the 8" Torch figure eluded me all through childhood to my chagrin, ugh.

Was the term racktoys used in the 70's by toymakers ? ... or is it a relatively new word ?
