    My First Custom Rooting Job...

Okay, this isn't a full rooting job, it's just a customized root of an existing Mego Charmed Piper head. I added bangs and more hair where I wanted to change her hair part to be more on the right side, instead of the middle. It's not perfect, but it works for my first attempt. I'm still styling and cutting too, btw...I'll share a finished photo, when I'm done with her.

I consider this to be a big hole in my customizing game. There are a lot of female heads out there that just need a tweak to the hair to be completely transformed. She looks better already.

Okay, I know this is a long time to return to this, but I finally got back to finishing (well, almost...she's still a bit frizzy) cutting, taming and styling her extra hair-rooted head (with bangs and added hair to change her hair part)...LOL!

She's looking much better, I think. I also painted her eyes, but I've got to fix those lashes (my hands shake, so it's difficult to paint steady. )

She turned out nice. The bangs blend in with the rest of her hair. I don't know much about re-rooting. Did you have to create extra holes in her forehead for the bangs?

I understand how to punch hair into a head, but I'm uncertain how it's secured then from inside.

Yes, and I was really nervous about doing it...LOL!

I used glue as I saw in the tutorials.

Great Job! Nice work. I have always been leery to re-root hair. I am always afraid that I will rip the head apart. How time consuming was it?

Not too much time was eaten up, as she had hair to start and I just wanted to change the part in her hair and give her bangs. The biggest challenge for me was that I had never done it before...so I watched several YouTube videos as I began, I didn't want to screw it up too much.

Im about to reroot my first head soon (Jeannie with red hair for a Poison Ivy custom) and noticed that these new mego heads are very hard. Did you use the heating pad method?

Nope, the Charmed Piper head was pretty soft. I just used my separate stabby tool to make the new rooting holes, then began rooting with the hair strands and rooting tool.

Oh okay thank you. Yeah Jeannie's head is very hard. The Doll Planet says to use a heating pad and when its squishy you can add extra holes with the rerooting tool so I think I may try that. Jeannie had the classic case of very few hair plugs because of her having a ponytail.
