Evans and Downey Jr. are great together. Somehow I just don't see Stark splitting wood.

Nice scene. Yeah, that is definitely setting the table for the philosophical dispute that leads to the registration act. They still need to pull Spider-man into this because isn't he the first to unmask that essentially starts it all?

^i'd love to see Spidey involved, but as others have pointed out the secret IDs may not be as pivotal in the film version since none of the characters really maintain secret IDs. Another character could be used to switch sides, which was Spidey's main role in the event other than revealing his ID.

But having Spidey, Cap and IronMan in Cap 3, would be a huge push back against Batman vs. Superman. Spidey would be a huge cherry on top.

Evans is a damn good actor. Not many could pull of that role like he does, esp. against someone like Downey. I may be down for this version of Civil War after all.

If you remember properly from the comics, Thor himself had zero to do with the whole Civil War storyline. He was, however, peeved as hell the Stark appropriated some of his DNA and properly warned Stark/IRON MAN that he was The God of Thunder while Tony was just a mortal man in a metal suit. Pretty handily handed Stark his butt thereafter and left him to make his way out of New Orleans in the rain in a suit that didn't work. At all.

Without The FF, Spider-Man and the X-Men the Civil War storyline kind'a falls apart. Maybe they can get Spider-Man in on it but likely not the FF with all the bad blood going around ebtween FOX and MARVEL. X-Men would be possible because of Bryan Singer. He would definately be ale to co-ordinate all these characters. Still, it's not a story-line I would want to see filmed. There are so many ore better story arcs they could be adapting.

Even if all the characters mentioned were available to Marvel Films, I don't know that we'd see a note-for-note adaption of Civil War in Cap 3.

The crux of it was Cap and Iron Man's difference in philosophies and other characters taking sides. Any of the other story beats could be worked in or not.

Frankly, I'd like to see Marvel Films develop its own stories or if using a plot from the comics mix it up some. While I liked aspects of latest Spidey movie by Sony, I knew what was coming with Osborne and Gwen. At that point, all that I could do is compare it to the comic. It sort of took me out of the story.

I thought Nolan did a nice job in his batman movies of using bits and pieces from a lot of Batman comics, but not doing straight up adaptions.

Likewise in the Avengers movie, Whedon picked out some things from early avengers comics and used them within a story of his own. I'm guessing Cap 3 will be similar.

I think Sony would be wise to partner with Marvel on the Spidey films. It's obvious Marvel Films knows what to do with the characters, while the last two Spidey films have underperformed. The blood seems to be too bad for Marvel and Fox to work together.

I mentioned this over on another board where we're having a similar discussion; with the upcoming slate of MARVEL movies and all of the potential profit therein, I don't see why on Earth MARVEL/DISNEY doesn't just go to the various studios who currently are making debacles of their properties and toss enough cash at them to get said properties back so they can be handled properly and integrated into the MARVEL movie universe.

Its crazy to think that Sony and Fox won't sit down with Marvel on this. Both Sony and Fox would stand to make a ton of money on a crossover event like this. Marvel don't need Spidey/FF/X-Men and have demonstrated with GOTG that they can still earn a respectable buck with even the smallest names in the Marvel stable.
