Thrilled with how the selection and quality of the WGSH is improving

First, I'm not talking about the 2-packs, those are an obvious trainwreck this time, I am talking about the WGSH figures:

Batman Wave 1 - Tight bodies, Batman, Robin, Joker and Riddler

Batman Wave 2 - Tight bodies, Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, Catwoman and Penguin. Terrible wave given the body issues and character selection.

Batman Wave 3 - Bodies are fixed, Batman with RC cowl and vinyl cape, Robin with removable mask, Batgirl and Alfred. Really think they nailed this wave, the bodies were great and the character selection was amazing. Love the vinyl cape on Batman although I can see how the purists would object. But if they did it's easy to switch the cape with the Batman from Wave 1 and keep it in line with the original. Batgirl's missing neck and Alfred's big ole noggin didn't bother me at all.

Superman Wave 1 - Superman, Supergirl, Bizarro and Mxp. Love the character selection. The figures are pretty good, there's a few minor issues for me, I think the Superman head sculpt is slightly off, as are the capes. But I love the Supergirl and Bizarro figures.

Overall, I think Batman Wave 3 is my favorite so far, with Superman Wave 1 just a notch below. But both waves are much better than the first two Batman Waves, I think the 2nd Batman wave will definitely be warming pegs (as it were) for a while. As a whole these show that the process is improving as are the figures.

Batman Wave 3 or Superman Wave 1, which one do you think is better? Ovenmitt? MIB? And not interested in rehashing complaints or turning this into a bash thread, just curious which wave was your favorite.

Superman wave 1 has given me that "Christmas catalog" rush more than the rest- having the factory made Mego Bizarro that I always wanted, and Mxy looking more like his pic on Mego's box- and I love the boots! By this time next year, all the DC releases will be FTC originals, I can't wait!!!

I envy everyone's 'Christmas Mego' stories, because I never got Megos for Christmas. The reason why was because I couldn't wait for Santa, I'd save my allowance for weeks in order to buy one Mego. It took me 6 weeks to get a Mego Robin from TG&Y, but he was worth the wait!

We had a store in Ennis TX called Ben Franklin, and they only carried 4 heroes (Superman, Batman, Robin and Aquaman) and the 4 super foes. But I never got tired of seeing them on the shelf, and examining each one!

We didn't have Ben Franklin in the South from what I remember, but a Shazam MIB I used to own had a BF price tag on it, I believe. We had a lot of Woolworth's, still remember seeing the Duncan Batmobile MOC by the cash register. Impulse buys for kids!

Right now, my favorite is Wave 3. Love, Love, LOVE the RC Batman treatment. I really like the material they are using for the mitts and I thought the material used for Batman's cape really matched the cowl nicely. I think Alfred was a much needed addition to the Batman family. The head size is a non-factor because I think it registers more in pics than in person. It's fine. The RM Robin is cool, but I did make a custom mask to fit more with what I wanted. I think Batgirl looks exceptional. Just a very well made line in the series from where I stand.

From there I like Wave one because of the likeness. The Joker and Riddler especially. I had a tightness issue with the Riddler but my other figures seem to come out okay, so the quality seems to be fine with the rest. So nice to be able to buy these brand new again. That was a neat moment for me. I do like Wave 2, but it has the fewest wow moments for characters, which is okay. All good characters and cool to finally see Bruce and Dick in their own official packaging. That makes it worthwhile right there. A nice update to the Mego history books.

I only have the early bird Superman from the initial Superman wave. My plan is to get the others soon. I just spent a small fortune on the Batman '66 variants, accessory kit, and wave 2 figures in that line, so something had to stand down for just a little bit. But I'll definitely be getting the remaining figures. I like what I see.

Overall I think it's exciting to see so many characters being offered and 2015 looks to be a banner year if you're a Titans fan, which I am. So I've really enjoyed what they've out with to date and look forward to more to come. Note - The Conan and Tarzan lines, I may not collect fully. Probably just Tarzan and Conan specifically. I'm not really a fan of secondary characters from that line, so I have no great desire to invest in those series. But they are fun to look at!

Hey MIB, I think you'll really like the Super wave, when you get the rest. And Player, we had Woolworth's in Mesquite TX- first place I saw the Lizard!

The quality of the Batman Wave 1 figures, other than the tight bodies, was pretty good. In fact Joker's costume is better than any original Mego I've ever seen, and I've owned minty Mego Jokers. I think I like Batman Wave 3 better because it has all the figures I wanted as a kid, but never got, plus Alfred.

Ironically, I will be doing the same thing with the Conan and Tarzan waves, just buying those figures. No interest in the figures that Mego didn't make.

If we get Batman Wave 4 next, I think it has a chance to be the best wave yet, based on the Ras and Gordon pictures we've seen.

Yes! Those early sculpts look very promising. And I'm very curious to see what they do with characters on down the DC license like Flash and Green Lantern as well. But 2015, in general, looks to be a pretty wild year across the board with the all the licensing they have. Good times.

2015 will be a pivotal year for FTC with the DC license. Once we get into waves that are all original figures, then we'll really see if this license will sink or swim for FTC. Looks like Batman Wave 4 will be the first all original wave of figures FTC will offer.

How well will a Shazam wave sell with 3 new figures plus the original Cap?

How well will a 2nd Superman wave sell with 3 new figures plus Clark Kent?

How well will a fourth Batman wave sell with 4 new figures?

If FTC can continue to nail the sculpts and costume design, I think this license will have legs for at least 2-3 more years for FTC. The only issue could be when you start getting into really obscure characters that have limited appeal and sales decrease as a result. But that's a few years off if the main characters continue to sell well.

                      Time to chime! lol

Superman Series 1 is my favorite wave so far! Superman really stands out in his colorful costume! I have always wanted a Mint Mego Supergirl and Kara is beautiful my fave costume of hers! Mxyzptlk is an improvement over original I like teen body and plastic purple boots are nice bonus! I always wonder why Mego made Mxy TALL AND FAT! Bizarro is a VERY WELCOME addition wanted him since Legion of Doom! Don't mind his big head FTC nailed Silver Age look and Bizarro No. 1 necklace is nice touch! SUPER WAVE! Makes me equally excited for Series 2 with Clark, Lois, Jimmy, and Superboy! Plenty more Superman characters!

I really like Supergirl more than I thought I would. I did notice the card art for Kara shows her with long boots. I am tempted to order Doc Mego long boots for her, Wonder Woman and Batgirl, but there's just something about keeping them as they 'originally' came. I dunno, I will probably do it anyway, Doc should promote them as a set here to FTC collectors, he would rack up.

You know, I never realized how big the size difference is in the boots for Batgirl but man, what happened? Why didn't FTC get that part right? I don't get it.

And I OWN one! (Just haven't looked at it closely yet)

Wonder how much a set of Doc Mego Batgirl boots go for? And hell, Supergirl and Wonder Woman too, for that matter...

Yeah, I do not get SHORT boots on Batgirl and Wonder Woman! Why not LONG boots and include a pair for Supergirl as option to slippers (which I do like though!)
