    Female Hero neck issue

I used needle nose plyers and pulled the neck out of the body on Batgirl, Wonder Woman, and Super Girl. One thing I did notice is that makes the bands much tighter and the figure doesn't want to stand straight after the fix. I might replace the bands on mine with elastic or something so that I can get it just right. But it made me wonder if maybe they are put together correctly and the bands are so tight that it pulls the neck inside. I actually had one pop back in after I pulled it out.

No way the neck isn't assembled that way; there's no way I can see Catwoman's properly assembled neck slipping down. Also, when you pull them out, there is at times a small scratching around it where it was shoved inside, but not trace of any scratches to indicate it rubbed on the way down.

Scott Metz is right! I also see no signs of the neck having been sucked down into the body! I might just have to buy the WHITE Dr.Mego Lt. Uhura bodies from his site. I believe that they are the best female re-mego body that I've come across. He made Lt. Uhura's legs SOLID PVC that will never crack open. I do not car for BBP's & FTC's New neckless bodies.

Until Scott Metz mentioned it, I TOTALLY FORGOT my x1 FTC BATGIRL that exploded at the crotch area due to severely TOO TIGHT bands had another glaring issue. I even photographed it w/ my cell when taking the pics of my exploded Batgirl: her Torso BALL is up-side-down, which is making the body not only tighter, but also way less poseable! CATWOMAN was done Purrrrfectly by FTC, the other 3/4 (75%) of the supergirls have the neck issue. /my opened WW for sure has the DEFECT-NECK & up-side-down Torso ball as well. I said in another thread:

FTC: I hope you don't have hundreds/thousands of these DEFECTIVE female 8" bodies that you'll force unto US the consumers to not suffer the financial loss @ FTC!!!!
If you have 100s/1000s of these defective bodies & plan on using them.... Let Us Know! We deserve to know IF these figures will be potentially ruined on these defetive bodies:
1.) POISON IVY 2.) LOIS LANE 3.) MARY MARVEL 4.) STARFIRE 5.) RAVEN 6.) JANE 7.) 66 CATWOMAN 8.) 66 BATGIRL 9.) BARBARA GORDON. (ADD TO IT: 10. BATGIRL 11.) WONDER WOMAN 12.) SUPERGIRL). PLEASE FTC DO NOT RUIN these figures! Make sure they go on correct female 8" bodies like your purrrfect CATWOMAN!

I'm expecting 66' Batgirl's body to be crap....the only value the figure will have is the head Sculpt and outfit

I don't know, I kind of wonder if they are assembled while the plastic is still somewhat soft. I have seen some where the bands were so tight they kind of stretched the loop that the arm is held on by, I don't think that would happen unless the plastic was still a little soft. Likewise, if they assembled them with too tight of bands while the plastic had a little more give, I could see it popping down in there like that.

So, I'm paranoid about breaking these worse, does the head pop off easy, any tricks to it? does anyone have a video showing them do this. that would be a great help.

The head pops off easy, it's rubbery enough. When you pull the neck out of the body, the seams split open on top of the shoulders a little bit, they don't break just basically come unglued. . The top of the kneck is where the rubber band is tied off. So you put the head back on and push it down over the plug part of the neck, it goes on fine with a little pushing and turning or wiggling. The one issue I had was that when pushing the head back on, the neck is being pushed against the body again, and can pop back into the body.

I think what I am going to do is get some elastic cord for stringing bodies together, like what Mego used originally on the Knights and restring the female figures.

Hey jayraytee, I have NOT even been able to pull out the NECK out of the bodies on any of the 3 FTC female bodies I tried. It's obvious to me they were incorrectly assembled (on the 3 I tried) because the neck hole is pristine & every time I've tried to pull up the necks it clearly was impossible on mine. They neck would not come up & the shoulders area around the neck started bulging & stretching causing white stress marks. I could not get the bulbous neck bottom up through the small neck hole at all. The same way the wider bottom of the neck prevents it from falling into the torso/chest (like on FTC Catwoman), it also has made it impossible for me to pull up! I'm finally fed up seeing my x4 WW FTC dolls that arrived this week, AFTER my x3 FTC BATGIRL dolls came that way & now knowing my x2 Supergirl figs will come this way as well...I'm going to call FTC and see what solution they have for me. I'll call tomorrow since today is my Birthday! Me & Mego Wonder Woman both hit the scene 40 years ago in 1974!

jayraytee, if you restring a FTC female body could you make a video or take pics every step of the way, including listing WHAT you'll need, WHERE you can buy the supplies & how much of them to have handy, & how MUCH everything costs? I would love to see how you do it w/ this latest mego-like FTC body!

*FTC: if you aregoing to release future female 8" figures on this body w/ the neck issue & up-side-down torso balls, Will you discount them? Send each one w/ a replacement China female 8" body? Or at the very least mention this body is being used on the preorder page, show pics of the prototype fe,ales on the actual bodies they'll arrive on, or sat least write a disclaimer that this body will be used. OR even better,.....................................

*FTC let us know via here or FACEBOOK that NO further 8" female FTC figures will come on the incorrectly assembled bodies!

I disassembled my FTC Batgirl, and resealed her neck hole with Shoe Goo II. Once the glue hardened, I had left a small hole in the center of the glue to re-feed the elastic back through. I am happy I could fix mine on my own.

Yes, i will try it and make some pictures. I was just thinking that if you cut the rubber band that strings the body the neck might fall out one of the arm holes and not have to be pulled through the torso neck hole. I will see if i have any of the elastic cord left and try one and post pictures. You can get the elastic cord at craft stores, I got some at a store that sells crafts and sewing stuff. Michaels or some place might have it. Or ebay, search for 'round elastic cord'

What I meant by thinking that the neck might of pulled down into the figure was that possibly when the bodies are right out of the molds they might be softer and have not yet hardened, then if they were immediately strung too tight they might of sucked into the body (if the body was slightly more rubbery at first). Then they assembled them and dressed them and paskaged them and sent them off... the plastic may have hardened a lot by the time we recieve them. It's just a guess, not saying it did happen this way, I just mean it is a possability.

Curious... Some people have said that the torso ball joint in on backwards too. It looks like using your method to fix the neck, it would be easy to fix the ball joint too. Did your Batgirl have that problem?

My solution for Batgirl? Use a Doc Mego body. But I think I like the FTC female body better, neck issue aside.

Those long yellow boots definitely look better.

Hey TRDouble, those are Dr. mego yellow boots from his site? & that is your FTC Batgirl on Dr. Megos's $6 white 8" female body from his site? Those bodies are exactly the same as EMCE's mego Lt. Uhura, just in white correct? I'm wondering, does the FTC heads & clothes look as good as Batgirl's does on his bodies? Also, if you can, could you take a side by side of your fixed Batgirl on this body next to the other FTC heroes & Catwoman so I can see the height/body comparison? If FTC doesn't send me free female bodies I'll drop down to buying 1 of each female (and big headed males) & use Dr. Mego female bodies. Thanks for any consideration you give to taking and posting side-by-side shots!
