Is it just me, or is DC now opening the doors back to the pre-52 universe? Seems like the cracks are showing...

There's rumbles of another crisis event for next year. Kind of ambivalent. You know they aren't going to restore the post-crisis continuity or the pre-crisis continuity so what does it matter?

^Yeah, it's never going to go back.

I wish they'd just go "classic'. Baggage free, classic versions of the characters. It's what they should have done with the New 52.

I've never understood the "like it or lump it" approach of the Nu 52.

I'm not saying print two universes but there seemed to be no branch for a large part of readership to cling to with this move.

^Yeah, you think they could have just shifted a few titles to a "NEW" universe, I mean there are Batman and Superman books to spare out there. They really did throw the baby out with the bathwater. I think they thought the bold move would attract readers...and it did. But did they stay? And I'm pretty sure a good number of us old-timer threw up their hands and walked off.

That's the part I don't get, I imagine that they were operating under the assumption that the current fans would simply keep on with their readership because "52 Batman" is better than no Batman at all.

I wonder how that's all played out. I know a lot of people who have really capped their DC purchases.

About a year ago, I had a discussion with a (slightly hipsterish) comic store manager who assured me that the 52 brought in more new readers than it lost of the old guard. He very was enthusiastic about it at the time, I wonder how he is about it today?

As a major DC reader for most of my 47 years, I'm down to one regular DC monthly title a month, "Batman '66".
I sampled many of the New 52 titles from the beginning and eventually boiled it down to a core group of favorite characters. But even those were pruned over the last year until I'm left with one book that isn't even in New 52 continuity.

On a related note, I'm hoping the mail today has the New Teen Titans paperback I ordered that features the legendary start of the Wolfman/Perez run. You CAN go home again...sometimes you just have to take a longer route.

The 3 titles I followed via trade are gone- Frankenstein, OMAC and Batman Inc, and so am I from DC. DC picked up new readers, but it didn't bring new comic readers in, just redistributed them from Marvel or Image.

I get Batman 66, and my kids get a few comics. Teen Titans Go!, Scooby-Doo Team-Up and Tiny Titans, which is just a mini.
