SuperFriends FTC Wave: Your Thoughts, Hopes, and Expectations

[[SIZE=4]Based on what we've seen (Gleek Prototype) and heard, I wanted to start a post on the
SuperFriends wave announcements and what your hopes , thoughts, and expectations are. As one of the world's greatest SuperFriends fans, I am outspoken when I say I have wanted and waited my whole life for a Super Friends wave of toys and action figures, and never imagining that it would ever happen. Although I hate the character, I was super excited to see Gleek in Mego like form. I wanted to start off this post on what I am hoping they will make.

1: THE WONDER TWINS: Like em or hate em, I have always wanted Zan and Jayna in Mego form, but I never imagined Gleek being made, so seeing his prototype got me excited at the possibility. The Twins would be a great 2 pack (or 3 pack with Gleek) and that would be a best seller for those characters. What I am hoping for with the Exxorian Shape Shifters is accuracy with the look and the costumes. Unlike Mattel, I hope their outfits have the purple V shape in the back of their outfits, and more so, I hope the color scheme is right. The Mattel figures are too dark in color. I hope Zan and Jayna are in 8 inch form.

2: WENDY, MARVIN, AND WONDER DOG: I never imagined the Junior Super Friends in plastic action figure form, but with FTC. I really believe those characters would work best in the 7 inch body forms like the Teen Titans. Wendy and Marvin look more like kids than Zan and Jayna do.

3: The news about Samurai and Apache Chief is awesome, which leads me to hope that we'll get Black Vulcan and El Dorado too.

4: When they announced new versions of Superman, Batman, and Robin for the Super Friends line, my hopes are as follows: Authenticity. I hope the SuperFriends version of Batman looks accurate and has BLUE shorts with the blue and grey outfit. I hope we get an 8 inch Teen Wonder version of Robin in this line whose cape goes around the front and under the collar. And along with them and Superman, I hope they will eventually give us SuperFriends versions of Wonder Woman and Aquaman as well. Mattel did do a good Wonder Woman and she reminded me of the Super Friends.

5: Here's hoping we will get Hawkman and Hawkgirl in Super Friends or DC Comics fashion. They've already announced Flash and Green Lantern. I wouldn't mind Super Friends versions of them either. Especially Green Lantern with that California tan.

6: Let's hope we can get the Legion of Doom. So far, FTC has given us the Riddler, and Scarecrow and Bizarro on the way. I'd like to see FTC do Lex Luthor in the purple and green suit and the classic Brainaic. Also, muscle bodied figures of Grodd and Solomon Grundy. Heck! I hope all 13 villains can be made.

7: And for the sake of the Super Powers era, I hope FTC will eventually make Firestorm and Cyborg.

Anyway, those are my hopes for the Super Friends toyline by FTC. What do you hope to see with this wave?]

I'm hoping for completely new costumes and head sculpts that really capture the look of the Alex Toth designs. I'm also hoping for higher quality costumes than the the ones they are using on their Mego rereleases, more like what they are doing with their Batman '66 figures.

^^I echo your sentiments. If the figures sell really well it would be fun to have variants. The evil counterparts would be fun as would a Black Knight Superman. Totally out there would be Superman and Wonder Woman as hobbits or dwarfs, whatever they were in that episode.

My only expectation at this stage is that they stay completely true to the animated interpretation and not just change head sculpts and use existing outfits. A true Super Friends figure has to include it's own unique outfit to accurately reflect the cartoon colors and style.

I am on board with all seven of your bullet points filmation batman fan and I completely agree with Joshua's design and quality hopes. madmarva's hopes of variants and evil counterparts is really cool, indeed they would be fun.

I hope the Super Friends line does well enough that FTC makes Hall of Justice and Legion of Doom playsets.

I have hopes it's successful enough to continue into some other adaptations, like the Legend of the Superheroes specials.

That would be a good tie in to the Batman 66 line.

I think we're guaranteed Zan and Jayna, otherwise we wouldn't be seeing the prototype of their space monkey, Gleek (AAAAAAHHHHH, naked space monkey!! Shield your eyes!!!). I can't see them being on the teen bodies, as they were almost as tall as the heroes. 7" would be way too small. I think the other distinct heroes would be a lock, maybe even including Rima (such a simple figure to do, new head and a one piece costume). For the heroes and villains, though, there would be some who basically only need a new head. GL's costume was dead on, so unless they pad the back of his shoulders to make him shlump over a bit when he stands (as he often was drawn in the show), the only difference was his head and his ultra tanned skin tone (must have caught a lot of rays at the Coast City beaches). Flash wouldn't even need a new head, most likely, as the only change in him was an all yellow chest insignia. I think it is a great chance to get a good Teen Wonder Robin (the show had a dead on version of the older-teen Dick Grayson, as well). It could also be an excuse to get a more accurate Green Arrow with proper costume details. I don't know how they'd approach things like the gloves and boots, though; they may use the standard oven mitts and boots and such because the SF show was on at the same time the original Megos were on the shelves, and that's the style of that era. I personally would prefer the Batman '66 style boots and gloves, though.

As long as they look like the Super Friends versions (like the statues and DC Direct figures) I'm good. If all I get are the core 5 I'm still happy.

the big head strikes again. And I really wish they would junk the Mego female body. Julie Newmar is going to look terrible on that body.

Not sure its fair to say its a big head, first its a nekid body, might look different with clothes and the giant collar. And secondly it might be on a teenage body?
