Shane Black to direct the Destroyer

Remo Williams is getting another movie. At one point in my life I read a ton of these. It will interesting to see how Black makes sinanju look on screen.

Also, we may get our first Chuin played by an actual asian.

Isn't Shane Black involved in that Doc Savage movie with Hemsworth as well?

How can this movie not be called: "Remo Williams: The Adventure Continues" ?

I remember how different the Marvel comics magazine seemed from the campy movie. Although I have to admit that I did like the movie as a kid.

didin't realize they did a regular comic as well.

Love the cheesy paperback covers from back in the day.

Boy, I read a bunch of those Destroyer paperbacks years ago, then kinda lost interest. The comic was pretty accurate to the books, unlike the movie.
Still it wasn't a bad movie, just a little campy. Odd that they're also planning a Mack Bolan film too. As long as they don't do it in that "sin city/300" style like they did The Spirit etc. I really dislike that .
The author of the article ibviously did'nt do a lot of homework. He says there were 37 books, more like 150. And I'd describe them many ways, but HEARTFELT isn't a term that comes to mind. Ditto the hilarious antics of the Master Assassin Chuin.

Just in the rumor stages, but bandied about, nonetheless.

Doc Savage: Directed by Shane Black. With Dwayne Johnson. Doc Savage, the man of bronze, was raised from childhood by a team of scientists to become the original "super" hero of the 1930s. A man of great mental and physical strength, he went around the world battling larger-than-life villains.

Yeah, heartfelt they ain't. I read a pile of these back in the day, the early ones can be edgy with the treatment of women and the overall depiction of anybody not white, such is the trapping of the 70s pulp novel I guess. The later books seem to capitalize on the relationship more and make Chuin kind of a father figure to Remo, who last I checked, could destroy tanks with his bare fists.

The Marvel magazine was a pretty good adaptation of some early novels, although Stan Lee insisted on that logo on his chest. The art in the comics really isn't great.

I hadn't heard about either of these, and I'd be happy to see either (preferably both) The Destroyer and The Executioner make it to the screen.

Wow! Just wow. Was James Hong too busy that week? Seriously.

If they can get him to quit mugging and do a more deadpan performance, Jackie Chan is probably coming up on the right age for Chuin. both action chops and comedic ability, plus plenty of heart if they want to do the more fatherly stuff. Not Korean, but at least Asian!

I've got a copy of that magazine someplace.

I loved the movie when I was a kid. I was a 12 year old who was obsessed with Cannon Group action movies on VHS - so it was just like one of those movies only 100 times better quality. It even had a Louis Gossett Jr. look-alike to be in charge and yell funny abuse at the hero - just like the Cannon movies. To be fair, I really do like Fred Ward's performance.

Another crazy Fred Ward cult gem is "Miami Blues" - which really does hold up - I saw it again a couple of years ago. It's dark, funny stuff.
