That is great. I thought he would make a fantastic Black Adam, but he has a wholesomeness and light heartedness that really fits Captain Marvel. I look forward to that. Funny how he mentioned how you can run through a list of characters he could play but then come down to why you would use the Rock. Power and physicality, so it has to be a heavy hitter.

for me it was either Rocky or Patrick Warburton, so this is a good sign that Warner might finally get something right. Now if they can steal Ian McKellen away from the XMen to play the wizard Shazam.

If done right, and kept FUN, this would work.

Yeah, I like him him as Captain Marvel, but now who do you cast against him as Black Adam? Or do you just stay away from BA and go with other villains.

I agree, Chris, it needs to be kept several degrees lighter than Man of Steel. Maybe, 180.

It's a win in several ways. First, like everyone has mentioned, he's the absolute perfect person to play a man-child with super powers. His acting is spotty at best, but he more than makes up for that with pure charisma. He's a huge draw. Whatever crap movie he happpens to be in makes money. Seems like even the worst movies he makes (Tooth Fairy, Snitch) make money at box office or DVD. And, he would be the first real superhero of ethnicity to exist on-screen(Hancock does not count) to be in a lead role.

WB and DC have made questionable decisions regarding their properties, but this one, if true, would be absolutely HUGE. And for those who will obviously complain about his non-caucasian look, Johnson represents all of the qualities of the character. Shazam doesn't have any real pop culture exposure so they have some wiggle room to play with the casting a bit. I know most were hoping for Black Adam, but I think this is a golden opportunity for DC and they will not let it get away. David Labrava should be Black Adam.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

                        Martian Manhunter?
In the current DC continuity, many of his powers are similar to those of Superman, including superhuman strength close to that of Superman, flight, invulnerability, vortex breath, and "Martian Vision" (a term designating both the ability to see through solid objects and the ability to project beams of energy from his eyes). Superman once said of the Manhunter, "He is the most powerful being on the face of the Earth".

That is a quote from Wikipedia.

He's bald and would be perfect for the part.

The Rock/Austin feud is still my favorite of all-time. Classic stuff for like three months. It is going to be interesting to see the casting cause whichever role he's playing who the hell is going to be the other actor? If they are taking liberties with the Rock as Shazam, they can make some changes with Adam. Gerrard Butler has the physicality and presence to equal Rock but not quite the look. Not sure what to think at this point.

the real casting question is who plays Billy? There will be far more character development with him than with Cap.

Tom Tyler seldom spoke in the serial, and both TV Shazam's didn't do too much acting either. They all filled out the suit, but little else in the acting department.
