Green Turtle--the Shadow Hero!

I just finished reading The Shadow Hero TPB, Gene Luen Yang & Sonny Liew's reinvention of the obscure Golden-Age hero "The Green Turtle."

I enjoyed it very much--charmingly fannish but very sharp & creative as well. It's got heart and insight that carries the story beyond super-heroics.

Thanks to CTVT and member Batman89, the Mego Green Turtle is finally underway! Just need a sticker or maybe some screenprinting for a cape image.

I read that GN a couple of years back and enjoyed it immensely. Some of Yang's other stuff is a little heavier (Boxers & Saints for example ) and not super-hero or adventure fare, but are no less enjoyable. If you are looking for super-hero adventure though, Shadow Hero is a great read.

Sonny Liew did a recent run as the artist on Paul Levitz's reinvention of Dr. Fate, but I haven't checked it out yet.

I've been meaning to read Boxers & Saints.

The Shadow Hero is such deft storytelling, it's practically a storyboard for a fun film version.
