Typical Marvel flavor of the month attempt to get attention. Of all the places to announce this it was Whoopie Goldberg on the View?

I look forward to the day when the only "gimmick" used in the industry is a good story.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

I thought they'd already made him female a while back (and not the What If? Sam posted either). Maybe it was Loki they made into a woman?

What a great idea. I'm sure comic sales will explode among the middle-age bored housewife demographic.

Loki was a woman a while ago.

Funny thing is, if you drew a male version of Valkyrie, most fans would think, "Oh, it's Thor."
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

You know it is either Angela or Valkyrie, anybody else and nobody would pick it up.

It's fear of Wonder Woman. By the time Hemsworth splits from the franchise at its current pace, DC will have a solo WW movie in production or even released. So they may intro her at the end of Thor 3 as a way to close the gap.

This is part of the same pandering by dragging Miles Morales into the 619 or the rumor of Falcon becoming Cap. It's insincere and far from organic. The movie tail wags the comic dog.

I'm pretty sure it's Angela or whatever that old spawn character was named. she was recently introduced as Thor's sister.

What's funny is that in the 50s and 60s, DC would do stunts like this all the time, but all the stories were one-and-done. It was a gimmick but readers didn't have suffer through months of it.

As lame as this sounds right now, if the stories generated from it are good, then it's worth it. Superior Spiderman is an example. But it seems like a big ol if to me right now.

That looks to be the best possibility, and somewhat odd considering the route it took to get the rights in the first place. To buy Gaiman off, then bury Angela under the Thor archetype is...odd. Then again, they swore Miles Morales would nevah join the 619, but now we got him and Spidey 2099. Tis a mess.

If it's building on the current run of Thor: God of Thunder, my theory is that he's somehow bonded to Jane Foster as a last ditch effort to save her.

^Boy, modern comics sure know how to suck the fun out don't they? What a bunch of depressing garbage.

What happened to good old cancer-free escapism?
