    More Comic 3 Packs

    I can't believe it's been over a year since I last raved about my mild obsession with Whitman comic poly bagged 3 packs of my youth. I guess that's because I haven't across many deals and actually let some awesome ones slip through my fingers.

    Above is Shogun Warriors, while I never had any of the toys, I was really into this comic as a kid. Between this book, Star Wars, Godzilla or Micronauts usually got my pocket money.

    That is, unless Hellcat or Batgirl was on the cover of something, then I felt oddly compelled to buy that book.

    This three pack of Gold Key Star Trek reprints is another personal best for me, while it has been opened, that just means I can enjoy the off model adventures of the Enterprise crew.

    Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

          As a kid I always viewed the Whitman DC reprints as inferior ("Oh, it's one of those "Whitman" comics...") ...so I bought a bunch of Marvel 3-packs that didn't have the smiling "W" head...

            Yeah, that particular Trek logo always resonates with me. It's so jagged and nutty.

              I love it too, any modern merch that uses it usually gets scooped up by me.

                Wish I'd come across those more myself, it's been quite awhile since I found any 3 packs. The only one I have is The Black Hole set.
                I always viewed the Whitmans as some sort of inferior product as a kid, like they weren't "official" comics, particularly the DC stuff I was into. Now how I wish I could go shop for them in a Woolworth's or Murphy's.

                  Hey, while speaking of packaged comics, anyone have or seen the mini comic packs with either Star Trek, Dan Curtis mystery, or cartoons? They came out late 70s.

                      I have a couple of those, I think the theory is they were shoe store promos.;

                        Oh cool! I remember little booklets in my shoe boxes from Buster Brown and Kid Power.

                          You're thinking of a series called March Of Comics that ran as giveaways from the 40s thru the late 70s. Those featured various characters in shoe store giveaways, and there are close to 500 different issues, mostly TV or movie stuff.,some are hard to find and bring decent bucks.
                          The Whitmans were packed in three comics per bag, six of each title, more like party favors or Halloween treats.
                          Hers an Ebay auction:

                              The first comics I ever owned (besides some Treasury editions my dad bought that we had, and I still have) were some Superman comics from Whitman that were a favor from a birthday party (probably the earliest I ever remember that kind of thing done for a kid's party I was part of). I remember reading and re-reading those over and over again, growing in appreciation of the stories as I grasped them more and more.
