Castaway's Store is gone.

I just get a dead link to site construction, beyond the main page. Sucks about what happened. They were really my Go-2 for parts, bodies and accessories. A real loss if you ask me."Steel-like jaws clacked away, each bite slashing flesh from my body - I used my knife and my hands, and when they were gone, my bloody stumps - and yet the turtles came."Comment

Castaway will always be a company I hold near and dear to me heart. If some day they return, I will be first in line to buy. My complete Phantom collection stands in my office overlooking me each and every day. Next to it is the Captain Action line along with Red Beard and Achmed.Comment

What exactly happened to them anyway? I keep hearing about this on here, but haven't heard any news as to what happened...Looking for:
--Lion Rock "Mr Rock's" shoes/ boots (these may also be the same as the lion rock monster line boots)
--Mystery AstronaughtComment

Seriously? That sucks. I love how assholes always ruin everything for everybody.sigpic

You and me both.
And the real kicker is; there is nothing that can be done about it, since said ****** is in China and out of reach!
Taking legal action would cost too much money, especially on an international scale, so the guys had to give it up as a lost cause, and were still saddled with all of that debt!
I sincerely hope they come back someday, this time with a U.S. manufacturer, or the means to make the stuff themselves.JediJaidaComment

just curious - are there "us manufacturers" for this type of thing? I'm sure they'd be pricier than China - but do they actually exist?Comment

I have spoken to several U.S. factories who tell me that they will not make toys
because the numbers are low - both in units produced and what the product will
less for. Toys have always been made overseas. Companies here want auto
industry or defense industry work.
Marx was one of the few toy makers who manufactured here - and OHSA would
go nuts on him today.Comment

Not that I know anything about the toy business, but why?
Anyway, for Dave to get his bodies made here in the U.S., he'd have to invest in a 3D printer (pricey), as well as a rotocasting machine (again, pricey), he'd have to do everything himself, and while I don't doubt he could do it, it'd be a heckuva job.
We need to bring toy making back to the U.S., that way we can control the quality of the product and not have to depend upon middlemen in a foreign country.JediJaidaComment

Yeah, I figured there weren't many u.s. options. The new tech, though, does present some interesting options for the future. Might not be quite there yet, but soon.
Any thoughts on that, Doc?Comment
