    And what did you learn?

Seeing how the book is now out and most of us have it I was wondering what one fact did you not know before but learned from reading the book...

One of many for me is that I never knew that Captain America came on the yellow-franken card. I've never seen one and certainly never heard talk of one in all my years of collecting. So for that fact alone I say "THANK YOU" Benjamin.

    So what's yours????

Well Scott I learned my superman isn't right!

I also found that info. about the captain america on the franken aquaman/superman/batman figure interesting but wonder if it's just a rumor? Does anyone have one? I've never seen one either and have collected for many years and years ago I had a great boxed and carded collection and had Aquaman franken with superman card and batman gloves but Never heard of CA like this.

Anyone have a picture we can see? I'd love to see it.

I've personally held one in my hands, but I wasn't able to photograph it for the book. It's a really cool specimen, especially given that it's a Marvel character on a DC card. Truly the end of the line, so to speak.

I've seen pictures of that Cap.

I actually learned a lot from the book, stuff I would have never known without it.

I learned alot about the packaging variations, I didn't realise there were so many different ones. I also never realised there were WGSH figures that were released on Type O bodies. And I too never knew that Cap came on a generic yellow card! I love the weird variants like that.

Actually I probably learned a ton from reading that book, just too much to list here!

A lot off stuff about Mego as a company, the factories, the business and so on.

Why certain figures were initially screen printed.

So that means there is only 1 example of this figure around that we know of. Too bad you couldn't get a pic. of it in the book. Great to know and something to hope to see on ebay one day.

There is one thing that i'm surprised isn't mentioned and that is the rear cut out on the Fist Fighter Robin tunic, as all the other FF suits with varying details are mentioned and pictured.

Still a great book though - It has been opened every day since it arrived on 27th Dec.

I just got my copy of the book today. And after a casual reading I learned that the Hulk van was not produced by Mego but rather Empire Toys. I guess I just assumed that since Mego released a Batman van (Bat Lab) and the Joker Mobile that the Hulk van was their's as well. Wasn't there a Spider-Man van? Maybe from Empire Toys...

I just got my copy today and I dove right in, forcing my wife to listen as I read aloud from the book. She humors me that way. Tomorrow night I'll be reading it out loud to my son as his bedtime story. I can see it now...

"Okay son, here we go. 'Mego 8" Super-Heroes: World's Greatest Toys!'. Introduction to Mego. A family business founded in 1954..."

What did I learn? Alot! But I'll mention a few.

I learned that Green Goblin didn't have a solid colored face. I never noticed that he had the contrasting paint around the eyes, forehead, ears and mouth. I never noticed the eyelashes either. I don't own Green Goblin yet, so I guess my oversight is somewhat forgivable.

I also learned about "Kitchen Sink" figures. I had heard the term before but it never really clicked.

I also learned that someone really knows how to take excellent pictures! The detail is amazing! I've wanted to collect all of the WGSH since I rediscovered Megos, but the images in the book really fire up my need to own these beautiful toys. The pictures are beautiful! I don't know how to say it any better. THE PICTURES ARE BEAUTIFUL!

On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this book a 50 for sheer excellence all around. My God, it's beautiful. Thanks, Benjamin Holcomb (and all others involved) for making this book a reality. I almost wept when I first got it. I'm not even kidding.

I learned too many things to even bother listing. It's a fascinating read. Unfortunately (for my wallet), I did learn that I want several of the vehicles, based on seeing all those wonderful pictures.
