    Star Trek: The Table

Here's something I recently found in a pile of papers in my basement, a brochure for a child's table and chairs based on Star Trek and not just that, the Filmation animated Star Trek!

If this exists, I simply must own it despite my lack of room and obvious impracticality, it must be mine. I'm even willing to forgive the presence yet again of "White Uhura", did anybody at toy companies watch Star Trek?

Wow! That's pretty awesome. And yeah, these folks must have taken lessons from Power Records (who also had a white Uhura and a black Sulu!) for that to slip by. But it's a great piece nonetheless!

Thats pretty neat stuff! I wonder if this outfit is the same one who made the TMP table and chair set. that set only came with two chairs as I recall?? I remember Woolco had those set up on display when the first movie came out, along with a TMP steel garbage can and a beanbag chair of Spock (there was more stuff, but I'm getting old and cant remember it all.

                Thats awesome!

My buddy Jim had a similar one years ago, along with his little 'Fonzie Pinball' table that we used to play!

Man, Filmation....thats the stuff. God bless Lou Scheimer, a TRUE mensch.
He kept 95% of the animation work in the U.S., and most of their work really was filled with great social values. (And plenty of schlock lol)

Trek, POTA, Mission Magic, Fat Albert, Groovy Ghoulies, GhostBusters, Flash Gordon, Star Command, She-Ra, HE-MAN (!!) and so many others - yeah, Lou, Prescott, Hal Sutherland - all of those guys really shaped my childhood.
On one of our MOTU DVDs there are a couple dozen intros for their various classic shows.

Sorry for going off the topic there, heh, great table.

                Take care -

This would create the perfect little Star Trek breakfast nook in my living room, matching the Star Trek-upholstered couch, Star Trek cotton curtains, giant tribble bean nag chairs and, of course, the huge U.S.S. Entterprise shaped area carpet.

With a table that cool you would never mind being at the "kid's" table on holidays.

I'm trying to look at the influences here. The face shots appear to be based on the TAS art and has Spock, Scotty, Uhura and McCoy instead of the more likely Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Scotty. And yes, Uhura is colored white. The Enterprise is based on the AMT kit photo and if you look closely in the left box of the upper left is an illustration based on the Mr. Spock Vs. the snakes model.
