    HG Toys for 1980

HG Toys was a company known for applying licenses to their staple of role playing items, puzzles and playsets. In 1980, they rocked the 25th century with Buck Rogers, explored the seedy streets of Vega$ and smashed a few cities with Godzilla. Shoot they even made Fantasy Island merchandise, what's not to love?

          Awesome!

I had the Alien Attack playset, and a friend of mine had the Buck Rogers one, which used some of the same parts. I saw the Buck Rogers one in store once, but it had a bunch of parts missing.

That Godzilla one is amazing. I would have loved that.

HG Toys made some great MOTU play sets later on in the 80s. The only place to get a life-side Power Sword, Shield, bracelets, etc.!

I wish I had seen a Buck Rogers playset back then. I never knew about them until recently.
                    It's all good!

                      Hey!

The panicked crowd figures from the Godzilla set look like bigger versions of the ones in the old Fundimensions Gigantics kits!

                      Coincidence....?

Where were these sold? I looked at K-mart, Venture, and Granpa's Pigeons for Buck Rrogers set back then.

In Ontario, I only ever saw the BR set at Zellers back in the day.

The $64,000 question is: did HG re-cast the Mego BR Starfighter or the MPC Starfighter model kit for the BR set w/the helmet? Or did they actually sculpt their own in a different scale?

I'm thinking that they were big into puzzles about TV shows also.
