JLA: Justice League Action Premire Date & Sneak

Cartoon Network has announced a December 16th premiere for “Justice League Action,” its upcoming ‘quarter-hour’ animated series based on the DC Comics team-up title.

The series kicks off with the four-part ‘Shazam Slam’ and a clip is out which sees Superman and Wonder Woman take on Parasite. Kevin Conroy returns to the role of Batman which he began with the original “Batman: The Animated Series” back in the 1990s.

In the episode, the villainous Black Adam battles Batman on the Rock of Eternity and unleashes a horde of Djinn determined to turn the Earth back to its pre-human, volcanic state.

Affected by the otherworldly powers of these primordial monsters, Batman becomes possessed and is turned into a giant flying Batmonster laying waste to the Hall of Justice, with only Superman capable of taking the fight to the Dark Knight.

Also set for roles are Mark Hamill as Joker, James Woods as Lex Luthor and Diedrich Bader as Booster Gold. The “Justice League Action” premiere will be followed by new episodes Saturday mornings on Cartoon Network, beginning December 24th.

Leave it to Cartoon Network to debut this show 2 months after the McDonald's promotion has come and gone.

I hope they actually get behind this and don't yank it from the schedule within two months. If the show isn't completely goofy, they seem to hate them.

I has no idea that McD's promotion happened until I saw it on eBay.

I got most of the Happy Meal toys (except the Hawkman which is the one I wanted most). They did a combo thing, boys toys that month were JL Actions, girls toys were Super-Hero Girls.

The only thing Cartoon Network seems to care about in terms of its shows is how well the toys sell-shows that had good ratings but lagging sales on the toys tied to them (like Young Justice) got cancelled while shows that got poor ratings but good toy sales were kept on the air. I don't think there is a toy line specifically tied to this (at least not yet, who knows what gets announced at Toy Fare next year) so I don't have high hopes for it lasting long no matter what the quality level or ratings are.

What's with Wonder Woman's hair in that clip? Did she just get out of bed?

Justice League Action was not among the shows Cartoon Network announced for next season, so it is looking like it might be one and done. When contacted (by the Bleeding Cool comic rumor/newssite) about new episodes, CN only confirmed new episodes will premiere on April 8th and 28th, which would finish off the order of first run episodes they had for season 1.

It's a shame, I really liked this format and the show was a lot of fun. I know the success of CN shows is about toylines not rating, but I liked the JL: Action toys too, bust aside from the Batman and Superman big figs, all I ever saw in stores were the blind bags. I still haven't seen the big Flash, series 2 of the blind bags or 3 of the 4 build a fig 3 packs that were part of the line show up in any of the stores near me. One Walmart had the Batmobile for the minifigs for a week before it was gone and Meijer had the Batmobile for the big figs, but both places are placing the toys mixed in with Batman and Multiverse toys rather than marketing them as a line, so I am not sure the toy sales are being helped at all by their retail partners. Or maybe there just was no real interest in the line by the retail partners which is why there is no season 2.

I never could find this show. It only listed a 5 hour block of Teen Titans Go! on Dish Network.

CN has been torpedoing DC's shows since Young Justice and Green Lantern. Put the show on as a half hour and ADVERTISE it. It's no wonder it's not getting picked up.

^Right, Chris. Which makes the return of Young Justice even more bizarre.

WB fifedom wars took Teen Titans, Brave n Bold & Young Justice off the air. I'd guess this is more of the same and the series was actually cancelled during production, which would explain the strange UK months earlier/stateside at 7:30AM? rollout. If not, then a relaunch closer to the JL movie would make for better synergy.

I didn't even realize the show had debuted yet...it's been on for three months?! I've never seen a single ad/promo. WOW. Somebody really screwed up.

i havent been able to catch it airing either, so I turned to Kodi to watch it...
The show is awesome, but CN's track record is appalling when it comes to DC shows.
Why doesn't DC try to negotiate a deal with Amazon? Amazon could use a strong set of animated content, and you know Amazon would promote the heck out of it....

I didn't even noticed it had aired. I downloaded most of the episodes and they are fun. I do not understand why WB does show it on the CW on Sunday like Disney's used to do.
