    Miller's Dark Knight Returns

Looking for value opinions on the 1986 Dark Knight Returns 1-4 series, first print. Issues were read once in 1986, and haven't been touched since. Bindings are tight as a drum and all are in excellent, near mint condition.

On eBay I see the set selling in the $150 range for ungraded examples that are described pretty much as mine. Sound right?

I've never had anything graded, but I also see graded set examples going in the $500 range, so maybe it's worth the price and effort?

The set isn't mine, I'm just helping out a friend. Thanks!

If there aren't any retailers on the board maybe the next best resource would be to call a local comic book shop that is authorized to grade the books. I've no idea if there's a cost associated with that sort of thing, perhaps a ballpark figure can come up from only speaking on the phone? My LCS isn't an authorized CBG dealer anymore.

My plan is to do that exact thing, there are a couple good comic shops in a nearby city. I'll give them a call and see if there's anyone on staff who has some grading expertise or experience. I would certainly take a drive over..

Thanks for the reply.. any friend of Thomas Sullivan Magnum is a friend of mine!

As someone who has recently benefited from a CGC graded Preacher 1...Get it graded if you are going to sell it. Especially a "Key" run of books. I personally would NEVER have a graded book in my personal collection...but for resale it might be very beneficial to you to have them graded. I think I paid about $28 to have the Preacher graded and I've also had a couple of others like Killing Joke graded (9.8) Here's hoping you get at least a 9.4 or higher.
