I do like the trailer, but gotta admit, the folding cityscapes, etc., have a VERY "Inception"-like vibe. I'm hoping that's just perception stuff happening in the real world and that somewhere, throughout the course of the movie, we'll get some funky, psychedelic Ditko/Bakshi landscapes going on.Last edited by emeraldknight47; Jul 24, '16, 10:04 PM.sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.Comment

I was reading that in the beginning of the trailer we are seeing Rachel Macadams as Night Nurse (and the reason why Netflix Rosario Dawson can't be Night Nurse).
Mikkelsen is playing Kaecilius.

One thing about a character as---shall we say---obscure---as Kaecilius; at least the costume/wardrobe/art department folks don't have to worry too much about making them look like their comic-book incarnations.sigpic Oh then, what's this? From the director of Dr. Strange:
"I think that the short answer is this is the movie where Marvel goes full weird," Derrickson says. "That full weirdness is written in the Ditko images, the Jack Kirby images, the early Doctor Strange comic book panels that are still to this day so mind blowing."
"What the comics did was, they brought with Doctor Strange an extra dimension into psychadelia, mysticism, and spirituality and all these very 60's things and broke open the Marvel comic book universe into the Marvel multiverse," the director adds. "I think Doctor Strange is going to be the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse. It's really serving the same function that the comic did. Even though it was a weird aberration as a comic book, I think it was a real linchpin in the comics. It ended up being decades of new stories and I think this movie will do the same thing."Visit my wiki site:

They might also be hedging their bets around eventual reboots/recasting, and taking note that Star Trek seems to be much more forgiving around their multiversal approach to the new movies.

I know this is probably not in the cards, but...
I see a more direct connection between Dr. Strange & the Netflix Universe via Iron Fist then I do with the Marvel Movie-verse.
I'm in for the ride regardless.Everyone is Entitled to MY Opinion...Your's, not so much!Comment

It didn't occur to me until you mentioned it, but with the build up to Defenders and the mysticism they introduced in the latter half of Daredevil Season 2, there might be more of a tie-in than we think. Especially with all the mystical elements they are going to be injecting into the gritty street level of the Netflix shows thus far, when Iron Fist debuts. Would love for Cumberbatch to show up in the Defenders, particularly since it would feel weird to have a Defenders without Doctor Strange in it (and Cumberbatch isn't yet above doing Television as Sherlock season 4 is coming in 2017)Comment

from the looks of the Defenders teaser, and Stick's voice-over, it's all leading up to their eventual team up to stop whatever supernatural apocalypse they were hinting at with the hole and Elektra etc.Comment
