Up Close: Super Friends Wave 2

The popular Super Friends toy line by Figures Toy Company has rolled out it’s second wave of figures (although the Wonder Twins were also released in between those waves) and if you want to reviews of Wave one you can find it here and here.

Wave two of Superfriends is comprised again of Good Guys and it again is a mix of DC Comics characters and those created for the show with heavy hitters Wonder Woman and Aquaman along with El Dorado and Black Vulcan finishing the set.

So, as with all of our “Mego Museum Up Close” features, we let the pictures do the talking. All the figures were popped directly from the packaging, posed but there is no agumentation or fixing, they are as I got them.

Like what you see? You can order them at our Sponsor Entertainment Earth right now.

Very nice profile of wave 2 Brian! My absolute love of this cartoon series is Aquaman and FTC really did him in the flavor I have always wanted with the accent approach to the scales on the chest and the near perfect head sculpt replicating the cartoon incarnation. Add to that the molded gloves and you have an excellent representation of this cartoon icon. And in all honesty I think the character choice and execution is all there. There are not al easy characters to get right and I think FTC really did a good job landing the likeness and spirit of each character. These are a keeper for my collection.

Thanks for the feedback Tom, I share your opinion on the wave. I'm honestly quite fond of the Wonder Woman, I wasn't sure by the photos I saw but she looks good to me.

I was pleasantly surprised by Wonder Woman. I did the body swap which made her even better.

After these pictures, I'm even considering getting an Aquaman!

I just received my second set of these in the mail today from Toycade, I like them but, my El Dorado's legs were wonky, so i decided to take him apart to fix him. I noticed that the cape must have been put on before the head was popped on as it was a tight fit to try and take off over his head and while i was trying his head popped off at the plug! The head and plug are two different pieces glued together! I had to take him completely apart then to get the plug out of the body and glue the pieces back together, fix the wonky legs and put it all back together. Has anyone else run across this?

Wonder Woman looks GREAT! I think she's the only one I'm going to buy...until they release Batman of course.

Thanks for that. No one really showed off El Dorado and Black Vulcan.

I really like these galleries a lot. They really help people on the fence take the leap on buying figures. I have this wave and love them all.

Finally got my set and they look really nice. One problem: My Black Vulcan came with two right hands. I bought through EE. Any idea how I can go about getting this corrected?

I love Super Friends and this Line! Wave 2 is no exception but where is Wonder Woman's LASSO?! FTC JLA WW has a lasso, why didn't FTC use same lasso for SF WW? Otherwise wave is super Wonder Woman is my favorite, glad she has rooted hair and no cloth Bodysuit! Aquaman is next he got me into swimming. Still don't know why Black Vulcan wasn't named Black Lightning like the comics. El Dorado, AR is my Hometown! Getting Wonder Twins and Gleek Tomorrow! Can't believe FTC has at least 3 more SF waves planned for 2016 alone and Wendy and Marvin and hopefully Wonder Dog Soon! The World's Greatest Super Friends! Fan since 1973 when I was 3!
