    New Ghostbusters trailer.

    Looks pretty good.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Hate to be the loan decenter here but I think Ghostbusters was a uniquely 80's idea that has run it's course. Heck, I didn't care for the second one they made in the late 80's. It was already looking tired then. In my eyes, the original Ghostbusters falls into that run of movies by the classic comedians who left Saturday Night Live in the 70's and struck gold - Animal House, Blues Brothers, Stripes, Caddyshack, Meatballs, National Lampoon's Vacation. Those movies really are all part of that alumni and don't, for me, seat well when other actors trying to mimic what was uniquely their best work at the peak of their careers.

It looks fun. I don't see the harm in it.

I didn't really laugh out loud watching the trailer...but I chuckled a bit here and there...it had a certain nostalgic charm, at least to me...and I'm a big fan of Kristen Wiig...I think she's a talented comedic actress, and adorable as heck.

I'm giving it a shot, why the heck not...

Could be good for some escapist, summer fun. Basically retooling the GB franchise with a feminist bent. If it does even moderately well, I expect there will be sequels. From the trailer, this group doesn't seem to have the instant chemistry that Murray, Ackroyd and Co. shared, but it's hard to gauge much from a 30 second spot. Hopefully, they'll inject some fresh material into it instead of simply retreading what has gone before. Speaking of, does anyone know if any of the original team is slated to cameo in this or is there any explanation as to what became of them?
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

I read this is a complete 'update' to the story and in this version, nothing we know of the past Ghostbusters ever happened. This is not a re-telling or a re-boot or a sequel but an entirely different storyline. But maybe that was just rumor. Also heard Ackroyd makes a guest appearance, but if so that makes little sense if he didn't exist before as an original Ghostbuster and is now just some random guy. At this point I don't have much interest in the movie, but might see it if the reviews are better than expected.

It looks ok to me, I watched a bit piece on inside edition last night comparing the new to the old scenes, such as tge library ghost and Slimer.
If it's not a sequel or update, why do they say the "40 years ago" line in the trailer?

Looks like a modern multi million dollar SNL sketch -- and that's not a compliment

Hope they keep the "Lady things" jokes at a bare minimum.

Only reason I might give it a chance is Leslie Jones.

To me I just think Ghostbusters isn't funny or awesome because 4 people (Men or Women) go bust ghosts. It had everything to to with Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson. So taking them out of it (as the surviving characters) just feels wrong. It would have been a much better concept if they just kept the universe intact. Rebooting the series like this with vague references to the original just feels disjointed. Ghostbusters isn't a "universe" like they are trying to make it. Also I like Wiig and Mccarthy but the other two I just don't see doing well outside of 5 minute SNL sketches. And for my money they aren't even that good at that. I'm always open to the idea of the movie changing my mind once I see it but from where I stand at the very least they went about this all wrong. Oh well I suppose I can always watch my DVDs of the original two.

I loved the Real Ghostbusters cartoon and think the Ghostbusters concept is still works. I liked the trailer and I'm looking forward to the new movie.

And I've seen heck of a lot worse updates of 80s properties. Don't even get me started on those GI JOE movies and Transformers movies.

It's true the Real Ghostbusters was a childhood favorite. I guess I just don't see why they couldn't have made with movie with some more respect to the first movies and keep it in continuity. Like why couldn't one of them have been like Egon's kid? Or heaven forbid have guys and gals on the same team and have Oscar from GBII be a Ghostbuster, I don't know. Also I am not a fan of the ghost designs we've seen so far they just seem super boring and Slimer is really out of place given most everything else has been a dead "person". I guess I'll reserve my final judgment for when I see it but I have very little hopes of enjoying myself. feels like someone is walking on the grave of the original.
