    Mighty Crusaders Stunt Cycle

It's been a while since I've found a Rack Toy that excites me (that sounds weird) but this week I totally have. These toys come from Remco/AHI and are as I can figure, the last line of these kinds of licensed affairs that AHI was so known for in the 70s and 80s.

Mighty Crusaders are a superhero team owned by Archie Comics, they have a great lineage but an awfully sporadic publishing history since the Golden Age. During the early 80s, they had a pretty decent attempt at a revival which spawned licensed toys from Remco.

While the Remco Mighty Crusaders action figure line is fairly commonly found, these kinds of items must have been produced in much lower numbers. I'm still not positive what made and didn't get made.

Prior to this discovery, the only Rack Toys for the Mighty Crusaders I could confirm were these helicopters.

The back of the package suggests that Mighty Crusaders got the same treatment that Batman and Planet of the Apes did in the mid seventies with helicopters, Motorcycles and (gasp!) Parachute figures. (If you have one please email me, even if it's not for sale!)

A really nice shot of "The Web" figure, I'm glad that I keep running into one of my favourite characters when I do find this stuff.

If you have any input on this Mighty Crusaders merch, I'd love to hear from you!

Wow! What a find. Does it seem really odd that these are from the 80s? I associate those stunt cylces, copters, etc with the 70s so much that it seems really weird to know they were still putting these out in the mid 80s, even though it wasn't that long after.

I had most of the Mighty Crusaders figures as a kid. They were pretty goofy, but I liked 'em anyhow, and merged them into Super Powers/Secret Wars play quite a bit. The Comet made a good substitute for Cyclops, and the Shield was a no-brainer to sub for Steel from Justice League Detroit.

Remco made action figures for them in 84. On ebay they have them both carded and loose for a relatively cheap price

It isn't that odd, Remco had also put out a similiar line for SGT Rock in 1982 that would make you think it was from the mid 1970s. They were still plugging along with such things (Warrior Beasts got things like Water Pistols) but these truly are the waning, end times for such items.

I can imagine had I been a kid when I discovered the figures, I would have loved them no matter what but I was 17 when I first encountered them and they were just such a let down. I would preferred absolutely anything to those squat, chubby little bodies that don't go with any other toy line.

The face looks like one of the new painted mask heads being sold at FTC, someone could make a Mego size Crusader? outfit could be done, and motorcycle can be purchased.
