Is $30 the new normal price for all FTC figures?

I can see why Batman 66 went up in price. The detail in the suits make it worth it but seeing the Monkees and now Harry Potter figures going for $30 a pop it has me a little worried that the normal price for all the lines will be $30 each. If that is the case and I really hope it's not I'm out. I have been buying from FTC from the start but this will be it for me. For that price I can buy some real Megos (Happy Days, Chips, etc..) and even buy loose WGSH for what a set of 4 FTC figures would run you. FTC if your reading this Please don't let greed kill this if you do want me to pay more for these have them made here in the U.S. Instead of China at least then I would be able to justify the price hike.

Some of that too could be price adjustment to compensate for lines that didn't sell as well. But whatever the reason, and as much as I love the FTC product, it does have my attention. Any price can be justified if the product sells so this could be a test of that ceiling. Personally for me, it's too high, so I'll be playing secondary markets on allot of stuff moving forward because history shows these lines can't sustain self price very long before they drop. I don't like to do that since it hurts a company I enjoy supporting. But there have been allot of price increases over a very short span of time since this retro explosion started. I can't justify that kind of price even if they have good reasons. I have to have my own good reasons for opening my wallet so I'll have to play the secondary market or wait for sales.

I hope there are more chances for the loose figures. That's a pretty rare option and we are lucky.

I have a feeling that varying licensing rates play a decently sized role in this issue.

If anything, it hurts those who buy alot of FTC product and makes them start to cherry pick and choose...these figures are certainly not worth the $30 price tag considering the feather weight crappy body you get for the price

look at NECA charging $30 for their Retro's,while you get a high quality made, much better looking head sculpts,an almost Hot Toys like looking 8" figure.Look at the hateful eight 8" for the example.Neca's Retro's just keep on getting better, while FTC stays basically the same while their prices have just been jacked up by $5

Hopefully at some point in the future, they will be available loose in a baggie.

when you tack on the shipping to that, its better to look elsewhere for carded figures and more reasonable shipping rates. The new price hike will make me skip more than a few lines. At 30 bucks the Monkees should look like the actors, not sorta if you squint.

I have been selling toys full-time for 10 years. Mattel and Hasbro have raised their prices every year. In the past, the have blamed the rising cost of petroleum driving up the price of plastic. Wonder what they will blame it on now? The MSRP on a Marvel Legends figure is $24.99. For just $5 more, you can get an 8" figure with a cloth costume. I think the value is there comparatively speaking. Nonetheless, $10 for a 3.75" figure, $15 for a $6" and $20 for an 8" just feels right. But I may be stuck in 2005...

^^ Now the blame is on higher costs from the factory.

Oil is at a all time low at the moment, trying to destroy the russian economy, so things should actually be cheaper.

^^^ Agreed. I think (in this case) if it's anything associated with cost, it might be the cost of licensing. But at the end of the day that perceived "value" at the retail price will always be subjective. And in this case, the secondary market becomes a big player for those goods since the mark downs are becoming increasingly more reliable. There is a glut of Mego product out there that demand can't soak up, so the logical solution is to wait on the pricier pieces. It might be scary to consider what a Star Wars line will go for if those rights get negotiated out to the 8 inch format.

If a Starwars retro/Mego 8" line ever happened,I would want NECA to do it....NECA offers better for the money

NECA would be my first choice as well for Star Wars 8". At this point I'm buying more NECA retros than FTC.

I would go for Neca as well with the Star Wars license.
