    ROM joins Action Man

A year after Parker Brothers launched ROM in the US, Palitoy their UK distributor, inserted him into their Action Man Space Rangers line which is, a really good idea.

I have to assume one of the challenges of selling ROM was that he was a pricey stand alone action figure made by a company that primarily sold board games. I'm sure Palitoy got him on more store shelves by making him part of the team.

Well of course the hirsute savages were the bad guys instead of the astronauts. I didn't need analyser gongs to tell me that. Nevertheless, yay ROM!

A childhood friend of mine had a brother that had one of these. Normally I would've been all over something like this back in the late 70's during the Star Wars craze, but looking back, I'm a tad bit more indifferent towards it. The scale and lack of articulation of the toy probably would of eventually bored me had I had one as a kid back in the day. Plus being a stand alone is disappointing.
I am more than machine. More than man. More than a fusion of the two.

I love my ROM,and happy that I still have him on display. Not bothered about lack of articulation and such,he's still cool.
