    Star Trek Uhura Hair Question.

Have noticed when looking for one of these, that some of the figures have short hair, like the one featured on the Mego Star Trek Galary, and that there are some with Tina Turner "big hair" type of style.

Was there a period when the figure was just released with the short type hair, and then a switch to the longer type hair, or were they both available at the same time?

Which of the two is the most common?

When new in the package, at least some Uhura figures came with a clear plastic band around their head to keep the hair down in place. Usually once the band is removed and the figure played with, the hair goes up all over the place. Maybe there are some that were missing the band and had the hair go big in the package? I assume the band may have been added added as a solution to this problem.

Thanks guys. So just down to "bad hair" days then.
        Much appreciated, great answers.

As far as the plastic band that came around Uhura's hair back in the day, what would be a good substitute
today if you wanted to do that? I have 2 Uhura's in custom boxes and used hairspray to keep the hair in place,
          but that won't last forever.

If I was doing one now, I'd cut a small strip of plastic from an acid-free comic bag, and then use a small piece of tape to secure it into a band...then put that over the hair.

If you can find a tiny bag that would allow you to cut the plastic into a ring shape the right size for the figure's head without having to tape it, even better. But do make sure it's acid-free, or you risk terrible long-term consequences.

I actually have a couple of extra acid free comic bags that I can use, so I will give that a try, thanks so much for the info help, appreciate it.
