Superman comes back to my town

I just found out that Superman: The Movie will kick off the Rohs Opera House "Throwback Thursday" film series this week. This is my hometown theater, where I saw the movie way back in 1978. I haven't see it on the big screen since, and it's still my favorite movie of all time. To say I'm excited is a vast understatement.

The only bummer is my son Andrew is out of town at Boy Scout camp. He's going to be honked off when he finds out I watched it without him.

If anyone is in or around the central Kentucky area, it's playing at 7 PM, Thursday, right here in Cynthiana.

How lucky are you? I've waited and waited for one of our cinemas to show it over here. This is one film I would absolutely love (to say the least) to see at the cinema.

      Enjoy man!!!

To say I got chills when the theme really kicked in, and the giant "S" appeared on the screen would be an understatement. My face hurts from grinning ear-to-ear for over two hours.

I knew this before, but this viewing cemented it: there is an unquantifiable, magical quality about that film that defies explanation. A true classic, whether you are a geek or not.

How did the film itself look in the big screen? I've got the blu ray and that certainly needs to be remastered.

It was actually projected from a DVD. It was the "cleaned-up" theatrical cut from the early 2000s. I don't really care for some of the sound editing "fixes" in that version, but beggars can't be choosers. Unfortunately, the projector was having issues, and everyone had a bit of a sunburn since the image was over-saturated. But, despite all this, I'm not complaining!

I hear you. It's awesome that you got to see it. I really wish it would get shown over here.
