    Poltergeist remake

Been seeing commercials for the Poltergeist remake lately and i'm not very impressed.

Looks to be another Amityville Horror lousy forgettable remake.

That said, I loved the original.

Was one of the first VHS's I ever bought.

It looks like every other horror flick out there. It may be good, but the marketing for all of these is so homogenized I honestly can't tell one from another.

The original worked because it was like an idylic family drama with a horror element dropped in the middle of it.

Meh, this doesn't need to be remade but maybe we'll get some sort of deluxe blu-ray of the original out of the deal.

It'll sell though, 3/4 of my friends can't wait, including my wife. I shall pass.

Can't wait for the new Jaws.

I'll go. It's got Raimi's involvement, and his Drag Me to Hell was a hoot.

They already remade Poltergeist anyways. It was called Insidious.

As for Jaws, for the life of me, I can't figure out why they stopped at 4. Without any sarcasm, I think there should be a new Jaws movie every Memorial Day weekend to kick off the summer.

It's like the Evil Dead remake.
They just didn't get what made the original work so well, and made a bland copy, leaving out key elements such as humor and characters you actually like and care about.

I'll probably wait until it's on TV, and then give it my standard 15 minutes to convince me to keep watching. I rarely get to minute 16 with remakes...

The original Poltergiest is so much fun right down to seeing the Vintage Star Wars figures in the movie.

Today's remakes are just trying to cash in quickly and get out. This movie is no different. I have no interest in this. I just associate this with the Paranormal Activity movies. What number are they up to on those? number 10

The latest one is in a retirement home.
The poltergeist makes a lot of noise, but nobody hears it...

Another pointless remake that will be forgotten as quickly as it came. What a complete waste of money.

I never saw that one but I hoped it would make a bundle because Bruce Campbell had a piece of it.

Yep... That's how I feel... These new ghost movies have no sense of fun... I'll stick to the original

I really like the Evil Dead remake! It is definitely missing the charm(?) of the original, but man it's rollickin' gore fest.

The first half of the trailer for the new Poltergeist had me kinda hopeful, but then it just gets bogged down in CGI non-sense.

We figure this will be on DVD before football training camps start, and will catch it then. It would be a nice homage to put a hulk figure in the kids room to get caught up in the poltergeist Hoover.

I'm not a fan of modern haunted house movies because of the already mentioned overuse of CGI and classic clichés done to death, but I did half-like The Conjuring.

Half meaning the first half of the movie BEFORE the possession.

After the possession it turned into a typical bad horror movie.

                          Shame, because it had potential

The Conjuring was every Amityville movie plus The Exorcist and half a dozen other movies all balled into one.

Watch The House of the Devil for a nice little '80s horror throwback.

That's exactly what I thought. Once the possession starts, it's "been there done that".
