    We love you Mr Spock

Yesterday's loss of Leonard Nimoy felt strangely personal to me, perhaps because as someone smarter than me said "It feels like we lost a friend".

Nimoy's portrayal of Mr Spock has always been a topic of conversation here at PlaidStallions, especially all the wonderful Star Trek merchandise that we 70s kids got.

Toy makers such as Remco, Mego, AHI and others recognized Nimoy as the most recognizable factor of the show and his visage appeared on thousands of items during the course of our childhood, here are some of my favourites.

    Beam down after the jump:

I'll miss you sir.For more Fashion Mockery and 70's toy love visit us at Plaid Stallions.com

So much merchandising! I have my fair share of Spock stuff too, including a Knickerbocker stuffed doll. (Have you hugged your Spock today?)

What kills me though is that you know some shiesters are gonna take full advantage of this tragedy, and sell whatever Spock stuff they were already selling on Ebay and jack up the prices. I didn't get a chance to buy the "Devil In the Dark" ornament from Hallmark at Christmas time. Now I may never be able to afford it!

Very nice tribute, it hasn't really sunk in for me yet that he's gone.

I love that Bop Bag. The portrait is almost pop art-like. The rest of his body is whacko, but that's a nice, stylized Nimoy there.

He could easily sell Trek merchandise more than the image of Kirk. I'll take the parachute and the pinball machine, please, thank you.

My first Mego was Spock. He eventually had to have a leg transplant, but is still kicking after all these years!

A lovely tribute. I know this won't sound like I'm trivializing human life to this audience if I say that this feels like losing a favorite toy forever...

What time period is the ahi bop bag from? Late 60's or early 70's? I never knew of its existence until these boards. Would've loved that as a kid. I remember the TRU ad, too, because the drawing of the ship looked so bad. Interestingly enough, now looking at the ad the Mego Kirk and Spock look more like Pine and Quinto.

I need to look for the re-issue of the Spock Model before they are hard to find.
                        It's all good!

Time to save a "Spock sock" search on Ebay.

Very little, if any classic Trek merch was produced during the original run. The show only hit its stride in syndication, so it is likely a 70s piece.

^Remco did release a few items during the show's first-run. But I believe most of these Brian posted are from the mid 70s.
