    Superman Christopher Reeve Style

So my idea of The Gaurdians seems like it may never happen. So I got to thinking what would be a fun line for FTC to pick up on and it hit me Superman the Movie line. This would be Great. Superman, General Zod, Non, Ursa, Lex Luther, Otis, Jorel, Lara, Perry White, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen heck we can even get a Richard Pryer figure out of this line, Evil Superman with Red Kryptonite, Solar Man ( I think that was his name lol)
Ok now let's hear all the reasons this can't be done.

^^^ That would be the biggest hurdle.

66 Batman has a lot of well named actors and they are doing them why couldn't they aquire the rights to make these actors?

66 Batman was taken care of by Warners before it got to FTC, they would have to do the same thing to make Superman a viable licensed property.

Hot toys made a Reeve Superman as well as General Zod also there are some DC Reeves Superman and Zod from the movie done in 3 3/4 hanging on the pegs at Walmart right now so hot toys is doing 12" not sure who it is putting out the 3 3/4 so why not FTC do 8"

Well, that means that Warners has the rights to Reeve and Stamp's likeness. There's still Hackman, Brando, Kidder, etc for your fantasy line to iron out. There are actor hold outs in the Batman line, too, Joan Collins, Roger Carmel and Michael Rennie for sure.

A chance, but I bet it would come with some holes in the line like Brando.

Mattel made 12" Superman, Zod and Luthor, so Hackman's likeness is in play.

So is Brando, thanks to Hot Toys, but I would not be surprised if that was a special agreement with his estate. I have no idea if Superman is a package deal or not.

Just because Mattel and Hot Toys had the rights doesn't necessarily mean FTC does. Mattel has more power/money/influence to negotiate for likenesses than FTC.

Now that Doesn't mean FTC won't get the rights at some point. Maybe they wait until Batman 66 runs its course. Maybe they announce it next week. I never would have believed FTC would have gotten Batman 66 or the DC license for that matter.

But each property/movie/ series has to be approached independently because of individual likenesses.

But yeah, I'm guessing FTC would love to make Superman and Wonder Woman figures based on the films and TV show.

The 66 license is a package deal thru Warner/Fox, they worked everything out with the people and or estates, FTC would need the same sort of deal with Superman: The Movie, judging by what Mattel did Stamp and Reeve are at least on the table, not sure who else as that is as far as they have gotten.

I would actually love a Christopher Reeve Superman! He is still who I picture when I picture Superman. I wouldn't even care if they couldn't do any other characters from the movies. I'd set up a revolving door with Clark going in one side and Superman coming out the other!

Nuclear Man...Lex named him that because of Superman rounding up all the Nukes and trying to disarm the nations.

I get you Tbolt, but licenses can be as open-ended or as restrictive as the the parties agree on. The use of Reeve and Stamp's likeness could have been negotiated by DC for Mattel in which case DC could allow FTC to do the figures, or mattel may have negotiated the rights for themselves and have exclusive rights. It would seem the former is closer to being true since Hot Toys has also done A Reeve figure, but there is no way to know other than reading the contract or hopefully an announcement by FTC.

I may be dead wrong but I'm optimistic about the possibility in the future.
