I found this cool little ad for AHI in a toy publication, it's kind of fun to see something like this with original artwork and not a single DC comics style guide image to be found. More AHI links at PlaidStallions.
I've never had one of these, but I recall them being a price in the "Great Clark Bar Giveaway" contest advertised in Marvel and DC comics in the late 70s. I always wondered why they inclosed the bubble windshields? Was it so they didn't have to sculpt another Batman and Robin?
I had one of those as a kid. AHI and Corgi were my go-to products when I was sick so I went through a varied assortment of Batmobiles by both companies. Nothing beats a fever like a dose of the Batmobile.

#1 reason, it is cheap and a major $$$ savings... A quick bubble window sculpt and mold and they are saving a ton of money buy not paying people to make and create those items.
They did not need to design, make, or create sculpts or molds for a cockpit and figures, paint masks to detail said items, labor to assemble and build during production.
