    A very 70s Christmas

Click on picture for a better look

Jarrod from The Monroe County Historical Sociiety sent me photos of an awesome display they've set up for the Holiday season. It's a complete 1970s living room complete with vintage furniture shag carpeting, a tree with original 70s ornaments and enough toys to make ten awesome 70s Christmases.
Seriously look at the Toy love in that shot and see how many of those toys you got for Christmas.

If that wasn't enough, they old catalogs to paw through and the TV blasts vintage commercials. I honestly wish I lived closer.

Jarrod also got into the spirit of things by dressing the part for the opening, he claims he's no Brick Mantooth but I think he did just fine.

If you live near Sparta, Wisconsin, this looks like a really fun afternoon especially if you're a regular reader here.

Check out their website for more info.

That's a lot of Christmas happiness in such a small area.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

Me too! They even managed to work in a picture of an orange owl. I am inspired......feeling like doing a little latch hook.

I still have mine! Needs the bulbs replaced, though.

Awesome picture. So nice to see so much Mego around. I'm surprised GI Joe only made one appearance. I thought he was pretty iconic in the 70's. But all in all a very cool spread indeed!

Yep, that looks about right. Even how the girls stuff is on one side and the boys is on the other.
Just how my parents put things out for my sister and I. The fake wood walls and owl are all where they should be.
Jarrod looks like an Uncle you only saw during the holidays. He needs a stubby Red Cap Ale and a smoke though.

Man, this made my morning. I'm the only person in my family who's nostalgic and this scratches me right where I itch. Wish I could go back for just a day.

Yep the only thing missing is a soundtrack. I can hear "Hitchin a Ride" and "Spirit in the Sky" in my head.

Ah, wonderful! I love how you can see the melted plastic Santa decoration on the wall. I'm OBSESSED with those things. In my house I call them "Plastic Fleck" and I hang them in every window.

Y'know, someone should do a book about Christmas in the '70s.
