I was hoping if someone knew for sure, if the Original Joe set secret of the Mummys tomb came with the back, black, Cargo Handles for the Yellow ATV~
I know the set came with the Winch, that connects to the back of the vehicle, but I was wondering if the set came with cargo handles also~
Or does anyone know of a good vintage Joe forum, like we have hear for Megos~ Although I would have to say this forum is great~
Any help would be appreciated~
Thanks again,
Wildstar~

Well that's kind of a tough question and the most correct answer is some sets probably had the handles and some did not. The set I had as a kid, which was one of the very first Joe sets I ever got, did come with the handles. It also came with a Land Adventurer figure and a desert uniform. I guess this was a more delux version of the set. This set was continually issued for almost the entire run of the Adventure Team line and Hasbro wasn't exactly known for it's consistancy especially on superficial parts like the rails. For example, some later issues of the yellow ATV were made from the retooled Troubleshooter mold and have "vents" in the front where the lights would attach. Some are a lighter almost neon yellow while others are a darker lemon yellow. There was also the Recovery or the Lost Mummy set, the generic Adventure Team Vehicle set, and all the different catalog versions that came in plain brown boxes with who knows what mixes of accessories. I apologize for not being able to give you a concrete definitive answer on this but this is the breaks of the hobby!

I remember having the set as a kid. I want to say mine had handles too.
The only thing I did not like was how small the mummy was compared to Joe.

My ATV has the handles, but other versions came with the winch. Mummy's Tomb set did have a winch, but I'm not sure if they came with the black handle version. Could be the handles are the Search for the Stolen Idol set that had the ATV and the Helicopter.
An excellent GI Joe Forum, with really friendly, and knowledgeable people, is The Trenches (http://www.thetrenchesforum.com/forums/index.php). If you choose to sign up, tell 'em Joe90 sent you...;)

Actually, it was Recovery of the the Lost Mummy, a catalog exclusive set, that came with the helicoptor, ATV, and wierdly enough a raft! I belive Recovery was missing the winch and had just the rails because you were supposed to haul the mummy out with the helicopter hook.

Yeah, that would also be a version with the handles...We really just need to know if this is a boxed or loose set to know for sure what version...:googly:

The only thing I did not like was how small the mummy was compared to Joe.
That was annoying with just about every object in the AT liine: the mummy, the aligator, the white tiger, the abominable snowman, the pygmy gorilla, etc. Heck, even when Hasbro finally introduced bad guys for the AT line (The Intruders) even they were smaller compared to Joe.
The newer AT figures at least made the white tiger, aligator, and Yeti a proper size. The mummy was larger than the original but still not a satisfactory size.

Mine didnt come with the rails. This set was from the first or second year of the infamous Kung fu grip, and it wasnt the big set with the copter, etc.

I kind of like the new Joe having a "Doc Savage" look.

Looks more like this Joe's headed down to the local gay bar for a few cold ones and a little dancing. I will stick to the original version of the figure!

What I like about the updated Adventure Team line is that Hasbro tried out different hair and facial hair styles. They went with clean-shaven, goatees, and even the chin-strap look. A nice change from the all bearded look.

I had the mummy's tomb set as a kid and it came with the winch (no rails) and a net to carry the mummy off with. It also had a shovel and a pick to dig him up. This was not the set with the helicopter (although I got that the year later). John
