View Full Version : From Star Trek, Enterprise: Capt. Jonathan Archer...and his little dog, too!
Hello, Everyone.
I've only watched Star Trek: Enterprise sporadically, but I am (slowly) putting together a set of 8" Captains customs and Archer is the latest. I also included his beagle, Porthos.
I chose to portray Archer as Scott Bakula looked at the start of the series: very dark hair combed to the side.

Here is Archer, front and back views.

Here is a montage of the head. This is my 3rd head sculpt. I actually sculpted this head while doing my Jim Rockford head, so I guess I did them sort of simultaneously.
Scott Bakula has very distinctive facial features and I tried to capture those, especially his bushy eyebrows.

Lastly, here is Archer with my other Captains to date (March 2008): Pike, Sisko, and Janeway.
My cat Trudy insisted on being in on the action!!!!!

The Likeness on that head is Phenominal K !
Fantastic Work. Congrats. :2thumbup:
Thanks, vman!
Is the head photo too annoyingly large??? I can reduce the size of it if it gets to be too much.
Regarding the suit: I had a blue jumpsuit and black boots in my stash of vintage stuff. I'm pretty sure neither is vintage Mego, but I think both are vintage. I modified the suit by making it V-neck and making it look elastic waisted at the back. I purposely didn't try to reproduce the black zippers all over the Enterprise suits because on 1/9 scale I thought it'd be too small a scale for them to look realistic. The boots I modified to make the toes flatter and make the soles "stick out" more like the doofy shoes they wear on Enterprise. LOL!
Thanks again, vman. I appreciate the feedback!
Whoops! Thanks, BlackKnight!
I replied to vman before seeing your post. Thanks for the kind words!!!

K, you did nice work when you first introduced me to the board, but your talent just keeps growing. The outfits, the cards and the sculpts! Wow. It seems any aspect of customizing that you decide to do, you succeed with flying colors. Give yourself a big pat on the back.
PS: This is not sunshine.
Aw...thank you, Scout!!!! I appreciate that, Master of All Things 1/6 Scale!
EDITED TO ADD: I reduced the size of the head sculpt photo, so it's not as annoyingly large now. LOL!!!

Great work K!!!
I like capt Archer.
I think you could follow in true mego fashion and get double use out of that head turning him into a Dr Simon Tam from Firefly/Serenity.

You hit his likeness dead on. The dog you found is perfect.
Thanks, Everyone for the kind words.

Hm.....I'm not familiar with the character or actor, but you're right: he does look like that photo you posted! Interesting.
Hardy,
Are you gonna give him a dog?
Porthos is up there, in the montage of the head sculpt.
mikeoz,
The dog you found is perfect.
Bless you for saying that! LOL!
Actually, I'm not 100% happy with the beagle. It's hard to find one the right scale. I modified the face and body of this one, but I don't like the way he's photographing. If I find a better one, then Johnny will get a new Porthos, but otherwise this one'll have to do.
I appreciate the comments, Everyone! :smiley5:

Yo K, it's really nice to see your work progressing so rapidly. You seem to have a passion for your work and we've all been really impressed with the stuff you're putting out. I'd love to see some of your stuff a year from now just to see how far you've come. Keep up the great work!

Most impressive Professor K, you just keep getting better and better.
Wow....thank you all so much for the kind words, especially BK and CM. Your work is stellar, so your opinion means a lot. Thanks also to you, Slippery!
I'm getting less intimidated of sculpting. Now if I could just overcome my fear of my sewing machine! :smiley1:

Hahahahaa! Another blast from the past!
Please note that I found a better Porthos and posted Archer with him. It's a far better look:
