    Soldier Ape Gloves

So..let me get this straight....not all soldier apes came with gloves, correct? As a kid, I am certain mine DID NOT have gloves. I bought mine just outside of Toronto. Does this make sense?

    Experts...on to you....

Soldier Apes can have cuffs too.
This is a rarer variation on the gloved but not terribly rare.
They are found more often than not on the UK Palitoy POTA card.
    Hope that helps.

        Yes.
And a rarer one at that.

Are you sure that it was Soldier Ape and not General Ursus?

Marmes is correct in saying that the regular Soldier Ape was available cuffed,
it wasn't just Ursus that came with the sewn on cuffs. And, to reverse things, there are Ursus figures that came with the standard gloves.

I hope this does not sound like a dumb question....I have a couple of loose tunics with cuffs on them. How do/would I know if they came from a soldier ape or an Ursus? I have both the cuffed Ursus and a couple of cuffed Soldier Apes. I really have not paid much attention to the length of the cuffs. Could there be a difference somewhere? Like the length of the cuff or something? Otherwise, How would one know for sure other than taking one straight out of a package?

I understand that. I was just asking if he indeed had the cuffed Soldier Ape or General Ursus. Some people have made that mistake before. And I see Ursus on eBay sometimes labelled as "Soldier Ape variant". Plus I thought that the cuffed Ape was only available in the U.K.

I know for a fact that it was a soldier ape because I always remembered as a kid WANTING/ NEEDING to add that Ursus to my collection, but never being able to find him....of course I was like 8 years old, and could only look when mom or dad took me out!!

What sucks is that all I have left of my original soldier figure is the brown body with no head and the cuffed tunic...luckily I have a head, boots, pants and machine gun on the way (thanks to a purchase here at the museum and to a VERY generous museum dude who just gave me the pants and gun...I will return the favour!!)...all I need now is the bandolier...

My experience tells me there is no difference - they are both the same. It's like asking whether red boots came from Captain America or Superman.

                      I wouldn't worry about it.

The variations are more consistent with the colours.....

L-R Regular blue (gloved), Lizard, Silver, Regular blue (cuffed), Brown/burgundy, black (cuffed)

I kind of figured as much. Thanks for the confirmation.
