Yknow I forgot how excited I am about the Planet of the Apes line. I hope that line keeps going. I wonder what it would take to actually get Taylor and even Nova. :-)
When do we start seeing the Apes line anyhow?
I always wanted the ape dudes helmet to come off....

I hope so. It all depends on how the first releases sell and what Fox lets Paul (Doctor Mego) do.

Not sure what your asking....
They are already and have been available for preorder for a month or two now, but we won't see them until summer.
So we are already seeing the POTA line preorder now, just won't see them until summer.

Alot of possibilites.......
A Forbidden Zone Mutant with removable mask
A Radiation sickened soldier with M16 or flame thrower
An Orange jumpsuited gorilla with a M16 or cleaver.
Now that we have a Kahn figure we can also have that circus guy who raised Ceasar.:drool_y:

If Trek has proven anything, if the initial figures are a success, we can look forward to an expanded figure range.

So far my pre-sales on Cornelius and Soldier Ape have been rather slow, and I pre-ordered less than any of the Trek lines. Not surprising considering that the Treks have been coming at us fairly fast recently, but not exactly reassuring.
If anyone is still interested, I have a few unaccounted for cases coming in my pre-order, so pre-order prices are still in effect for a bit.

The problem with Planet of the Apes these days is the Tim Burton movie was so bad it left one of those Star Trek Enterprise-esque stink bombs on the entire body of work.
I think with regard to the toys due I think was they show up all mego-ites want them. They just have to meditate a little to their childhood since the apes line was pretty much the most facinating to the childs eye as I recall. I mean the superheros were the main thing but the colors on the apes and even their packages was downright hypnotic.

For planet of the apes, Aldo, MacDonald, Virgil, Caesar with a little different sculpt. leeza (not sure of that spelling) orange jump suit, gorilla, yellow jumpsuit orangutan, green Caesar etc. mutants and maybe a closer to the "real look" generic gorilla from the first film. how about a mutant underground play set. kulp, Brent and a re-sculpt of Ricardo montalban as Armando. Dr. Milo. you name it. I'll buy it! PS. a space ship or space ship play set.

An Orange jumpsuited gorilla
Orange jump suit gorilla
You guys really need to adjust the color on your television set(s). The slave gorillas wore red jumpsuits... Red, not orange...

I always wanted Cornelius and Zera and Dr. Milo in their spacesuits.
Like I said in an earlier post, I would most look forward to Ursus where
his helmet would be removable. I always found it upsetting that his helmet
was part of his head mold...

Are there any Mego females with long hair that would serve as a Nova? What in your opinion is the closest one?

Well didn't Mego not make a Taylor because Charleston wanted too much money ?
If that's the case, I can see him still wanting a ton.

I wouls have to say Dorothy from WOZ would be the closest....Mary Ellen from the Waltons has long dark hair, but she looks even less like Nova than Dorothy does.
One of the Breyer girl figures also has long dark hair, but she is smiling way too much to look like someone stuck on a planet full of hostile monkeys!

Yeah, that's what they say. He wouldn't allow his likeness to be used on a figure back then.
As far as now: There are the MEDICOM and SIDESHOW figures of Taylor so who knows what, if anything, changed it so there can be Heston as Taylor figures. Maybe money did speak, or maybe it's different because "maybe" FOX owns his "likeness" as the Taylor character (the same way PARAMOUNT owned Shatner as Kirk) and they allowed it? But that is all a guess, I don't know if any of that's even close to true.
Anyway, these days Heston is so out of it with his Alzheimers that I don't think he'd even know what's going on.

As long as they give the figure tons of guns, Heston will be extatic, so this could work...

Drive-in: No.
BATTLE cover: Yes. (And btw, they look red on there to me.)
TV in the 70s: Yes. (And on TV now with the DVDs, you can clearly see they're red. The opening shot with the gorilla walking toward the camera says it all.)
In reality, they are redthere is no question about it. Even J. Lee Thompson, the CONQUEST director, commented how the primary colors used in the film were red (gorilla jumpsuits), green (chimp jumpsuits), and black (police and some of the other government types).
And, why would anyone want them orange? You want your poor gorillas to look like refugees from some Halloween party, or escapees from the county jail?

Thats kind of a strange comment for him to have made. Green isn't a primary color and black isn't even a color.

Is tomato soup red or orange? really all of it is a moot point whoever's perspective it is, the color or the hue, whatever you call it, or whatever it's "official" color is, like a gi joe jump suit, is that orange or red ?, I'd say that's a lighter orange than the ape color, regardless, of what I think or anybody thinks as long as it looks like it does in the pictures that's all I care about.

He didn't mean it in the literal sense of primary/secondary colors... He meant primary as in "the main colors"... Like you'd might say someone's house is primarily white...

I misunderstood it, I was thinking like primary colors and curious george.
I always thought they were red but I have seen advertising material for the movie where they looked orange.

Yknow I'm anxious about this line where is it already? The ones I bought off ebay over the years really show their age...
Also I think we really need a Taylor. I think a good Taylor is as important a potential EMCE repro as Kirk.

The thing is, if EMCE "did" make a Taylor figure, it wouldn't even be a "potential repro" as you stated, it would be a totally new figure. No repros there...

The Astronaut was mentioned when the APES repros were first announced, but the only one that will be able to tell you for sure is Dr. Mego himself.
And I don't know if they're even planning on venturing into the TV series characters, but if they do, why not make a new Virdon and Burke? Maybe EMCE Toys would actually make their outfits the correct color(s) this time. But, judging on what I've seen of their STAR TREK repros, they're pretty much sticking to the original styles, so I'd guess that the APES figures would be done the same way.

Well if you folks really want new characters you could always do it the old fashioned way! Swap Cornies outfit onto Dr. Z and you have the new character of Uncle Zippy. Swap the Cornie body into a Soldier Apes outfit, and you have the equivelant of a Trek red shirt.
Swap the Gorilla into Ziras clothes and you have a .....well you would have a.....well, thats one seriously disturbed ape!
