View Full Version : Batman's belt position on FTC figure

I've seen others mention it rides too high - doesn't cover the trucks/shirt seam.
I've compared it to a vintage belt, and the lengths seem consistent.
So is the body suit not right or the torso not right?

IMO, this must be a figural problem. On the Type S-proto pix, the belt was lower, and it may well be on Emce or vintage, too.

Also, what is the belt material--perhaps it varies in flexibility from a vintage one?

I've wondered this myself Chad. And since the body my Batman is on, is one of the crappy ones where the feet point inwards....I plan to buy an original Mego body for him and see how that works. If it doesn't, then I'll know it's the body suit.:wink_y:

I think it might be the material used. I asked this question of the FTC Batman on the S-body and they said you still have to "work it down". http://megomuseum.com/community/showthread.php?91573-FTC-Batman-converted-to-Type-S-Body/page3

The first thing i'm doing when I get one I order is change the body to a T2

Sorry, just growing tired of reading all of the nick picking when such awesome mego toys are being released. Continue on with YOUR constructive complaining. (just teasing you)

Trying to figure out how to solve a problem is not complaining or nit picking, discussing the details and figuring out solutions is kind of at the heart of this forum.

Exactly! It's what we do...find ways to fix the little problems.

I know the Mattel Retro Action Batman came with its belt attached to its costume with a tad of vinyl glue. Based on that, I'll have to conclude that a plastic belt will always have the tendency to slip over a cloth outfit unless there is enough friction between them. So the materials these are made of highly influence the belt riding effect...

What I will do with mine is attaching the belt to the suit by sewing some loops over the belt at the suit/brief seam area using clear thread...

I did forget Dave took pics of his on the TypeS prototype. Hmm.
If i get a chance this weekend, I ought to try the FTC outfit on a mego body and one of those CTVT made in India bodies and see how it fits.
My first assumption was the belt being about 1/16th of an inch too short, but it is identical in length to a mego belt.

I'm curious about your findings!

Is it the belt the same in thickness and bendability?

Sewing it to the costume could work.

Mine is on a Doc Mego buff swivel arm body and it rides high too.

Belt position problem is the result of the new FTC male's torso-waist-plug sitting too deep into the pelvic-waist-hole. This, combined with the new pelvic-waist being wider is leaving no room for the belt. Causing it to sit higher on the torso. The new S-type body has a wider waist as well, but the torso-waist-plug sits up higher out of the pelvic-waist-hole, creating a area at the waist that is slimmer. CTVT India male body, eliminates belt position problem.

I've tried the FTC suit and belt on a t2 body and have the same "riding up" issue, so not really sure it's the body.

Yep! It's definitely the body causing this belt issue. I had a spare Doc Mego body and put the outfit and head on that and the belt lined up perfectly. Looks really good like this too, so I'll keep him in this body.

you beat me to it Tom lol
On another body, it does look better.
hiding that trunks/shirt seam with the belt makes the fig look perfect.

Amen Chad. My belt was riding way high on that FTC body too, so this was a nice alternative. With that fix, I feel like these are a perfect set of figures, thus far. Great batting average for FTC all things considered.

I just got my first FTC Batman figure in today. The accessories are well made and I was suprised by the non-squishie head. I think they did a overall pretty darn good job.
The body definately needs to be changed though. I'll be putting him on a T2 later tonight.

As soon as my type-s bodies come in, I'll be doing an upgrade.

Thats true! Good idea. I might have to do that as well.

It's much better on a T2. The body it comes on really isnt to bad, I'll use it for something eles. Maybe it will be corrected at the waist sometime in the future.

I popped my Batman open, turned the belt around, looped in a small transparent hairband to elongate it, flipped it back for the buckle to be out front, and lowered it down to the black shorts' line. now it's perfect...only live once...

What if the belt was replaced with either a Mego or Dr. Mego belt,..would this help or are they all the same length?

I just did it, and it goes a little lower. Just not enough.
