worst WGSH Figure/Best

I feel that out of all the heros done Captain America came up the shortest. His was byfar the worst uniform done. (8 inch figure). no gloves wrong boots stripe pattren was completely wrong no white on the arms and his head sculpt was very poor. Im still trying to guess why they had the black up front and the A my guess is that they had no idea who Cap was and when looking at classic Kirby drawings they mistook the shadeing often done as the real color.

Anyway there were other Megos that had simular treatment cough (Gorn) Cough (gorn) but as far has the heros go Cappy suffered greatest.

any other opinions?

As far as best I would have to say Thor was one of the best. his sculpt was dead on the glowing like eyes gave the impression of power his uniform was very close and he had his wrist bands Mjlorinor was a bit off but for its day it was classic. The chrome helm and doll hair were perfect touches. My close second was mr and Ms Fantastic of the FF4 the classic uniforms were perfectly reproduced and looked great though the tourch and Grim were not that good but given what they tried to do and hads to work with was a great job. I mean how else can you do a rock guy in swin trunks and a man on fire... I just stripped my touch since he had an all red body and shockingly he looked better....

They really dropped the ball with Hulk,how can he be so freaken short.He just doesn't measure up.My fav has to be Green Goblin,cool boots and wild color.

I disagree Captain America is Awesome. Remember they had to keep the price on the figure about the same as the others so, they cut out the gloves and used the molds for the boots they had. The head doesn't seem too bad to me either. I guess I just like this figure. He comes with a shield!!

Anyway, my choice for worst has to be my favorite DC character. Wonder Woman has a one piece outfit and didn't even come with her famous lasso. I still love WW as I had a few of her as a kid just because I love WW but mego why didn't you paint her headband better and give her a lasso. Wondergirl comes in second as worst. WG had no bracelets, no lasso her main weapons? What was mego thinking?

Best, hard choice as I think a few would be my top choice maybe 2nd edition Supergirl, or kidflash. I even like Thor alot.

The worst has to be MR MXYZPTLX :yeah: as a kid i rember no one having or likeing him, The best is RC/BATMAN :yeah: with SUPERMAN coming in second, As a kid RC/BATMAN was the first WGSH i got and it was love at first site a week later i got SUPERMAN, so to me these will always be the best of them all

Hulk looked great, but he comes up short in the height department, same goes for the Thing. Best ones to me are the entire Batline. Mxy is the most unwanted of the bunch.

I had so many favorites in the WGSH line. Each figure had its own charm and drawbacks. My personal all-time favorite of the WGSH line was Green Arrow.

The worst? Like others I hated that Hulk and Thing weren't taller and that Mr. Mxy wasn't the proper height. Wonder Woman certainly got the shaft (no pun intended) in the Super Gals wave. But the worst of the figures is Mr Mxy.

I agree with Action Martin that each figure had its own charm, even if it wasn't a perfect depiction (i.e. a yellow cape on Captain Marvel/Shazam).

To me the worst is Iron Man's face, he always looked character-wise like Mr. Miracle from the New Gods in yellow. I always wish that they should have put extending arms on Mr. Fantastic (ala a TV antenna with the hands on the end). Also wishing that they had an RC like Johnny Storm so he wouldn't be flame on all the time.

The Best to me are the RC Batman and the RM Robin. There is a "we are the first" vibe that I get from them.

Hmmm I would have to say the worst are the SuperGals w/ those big ole' heads! And painting the emblems on Isis and Wonder Woman's heads was dumb. If Mego could do wrist bands, they could do head bands. And poor BatGirl. Underneath that cowl, ALL HEAD. It didn't need to be THAT big! (BTW...I don't like Catwoman, either. They should have at least given her longer hair.)

While the Apes are my favorites I think they did a great job with the Star Trek crew. Such great likenesses although the non-removable boots were a bit dumb.

best? hmmm. I think most of the Batman-related ones are pretty good. Joker, etc. Still need to replace that Joker but those people with too much money keep outbidding me on ebay.

I was disappointed in the Thing when I was a kid though. (never had him)
I thought the bodysuit with printed 'rocks' looked bad.
I'm sure it was for cost-cutting reasons as most megos are basically just a head that can be put on nearly any body.
Wouldn't it have been cool, though had they took the time to make snap-on armor 'rocks', etc. maybe similar to the tin man or knights with a removable head so that he could've been Ben Grimm or the Thing??

Single best action figure ever made: Removable mask Batman. But I'm biased.

Best execution/closest likeness: Mr. Fantastic. He is nigh perfect. They couldn't possible improve anything except his head is a big large.
I'll put Thor, Green Arrow, Iron Man and Green Goblin in there as well. Green Arrow comes in the second tier because his boots should be flat topped, not pointed and the wrist cuffs look nothing like his gloves. I'd also put the Titans high up on the ladder.

Worst: Mxyzptlk but not just for poor execution. He was just a bad choice for Superman's villain. I'll also add the Gals. In particular WW and Catwoman. I love BG but I HATE that her mask is partially sculpted on her face. Supergirl is by far the best of the Gals.

I had to edit to include Cap. What a turd. He has charm and I love him but Mego really dropped the ball on him.

Same scale. They look like kids. I always wanted to do a cool younger version of Robin with one.

If I'm not mistaken, Scott, founder of the Museum, did a very cool Mxy custom with one some years ago.


I was just on ebay and noticed the little rascals dolls. I'm not familar with them but I'm guessing they are even smaller than the titans? Are they the same scale as 8 inch figures? (like if you stood one next to an 8 inch mego would they look like kid-size?)

Actually IronMan is dead-on acurate! he had the nose from june 74 thru april of 76. Every Iron Man product made during that time had the nose and same general look as our beloved Mego!

Green Arrow is the best IMO- I can go with Superman and Spiderman as well, but they are more simple in design. GA had all the cool accessories and the cool cuffed/colored hand combo that just makes him ROCK.

Brainiac or Luthor or even the Prankster or Toyman would've been way better choices for a Superman foe.

Worst: Mxy - but only because of the scale and Grandma Walton.

I love Hulk and Conan. They are two of my personal favs but I also agree with why people don't like them. Hulk is great except for the height issue. I totally love the Mego Conan with his Angry expression and multiple accessories. However he is obviously way, way too skinny.
