    Big Bugs

Rubber bugs were a staple but Halloween usually saw a real uptick in their sales. I vividly recall buying one of these with a sack of cheap candy shoved in their abdomens. Does anyone else recall those?

    Hmmmm....

Those ones were big, weren't they? Almost a foot? I have the spider. They still show up at dollar stores every so often.

Yes! I definitely remember buying those at a local five and dime store. I recall a rubber fly and grasshopper with a little clear plastic bag of little candy balls of various colors packed inside their hollow abdomens and held in place with a rubber band. I think they sold for 25 cents. I don't know why the memory has stuck with me after all this time, but I find myself reminiscing about them sometimes for some odd reason.

I had the giant ant when I was a kid, loved it. Had forgotten all about these.
