I've checked most of my original Megos, and they all say "Mego Corporation" or something like that on the back. I was at a toy store today, and they had what I'm pretty sure were CTVT Dracula and Frankenstein. The guy told me that they were originals, but when I looked at their backs, they just said "Made in India." Could someone just reassure me that I didn't pass up a really good deal on vintage Megos in the wild?
On a side note, the guy also told me that they were part of Leonardo DiCaprio's collection.

Those were not made by Mego.
I almost got duped by some CTVT knights in beat boxes at a toy show recently. I got all excited and everything.

Good, I actually showed the guy the info on the back, then showed him the back of the incredibly beat, no-legged Robin he had. I told him that they were made on basically the same bodies, with a few variations from time to time, so I was pretty sure he had reproductions. This isn't the first time I've explained something like that to a vendor. Once we were out of the store, my husband smiled and said, "I can't explain the feeling of pride I get when I see you schooling people like that." :smiley1:

I always wondered too with things like this. For example, my superman mego's body is different plastic compared to all my other Mego's and the rubber bands used in his body are thick black rubber instead of the usual thinner bone color used in all the other t2 bodies. His body does say 'mego 1974' but I always wonder if its a repro body.

Most certainly reproductions. You can point to the "made in India" stamp, the fact the body is a touch shorter, that the legs were probably almost stuck together and the almost certainty that there were cracks in the joints either at the wrists, ankles or both.

Just another quick body question. Last week I picked up a job lot of bodies here in the UK. One was a Trek body, definately original but all the copyright info on the back of the torso was scrubbed (in the mold) more like a Cipsa body. It it common to find these as it is the first one I have ever seen? You can just make out the very, very faint impression of the text but it is barely noticable even on close inspection.

Looking through the accessory checks it would appear I have a Tim Mee body. Which figure did Tim Mee produce with Trek legs?
