There is no better time capsule into 1970s pop culture than a rack toy catalog especially if it's one by Fleetwood toys.

'79 is a great example as the company had some fantastic choices, from the TV cop antics of Vega$, Chips and Starsky and Hutch, to the less popular How the West was won. Marvel superheroes both A and B list were present and we had Buck Rogers and Salvage 1 present to please the Sci-Fi Kids.

Wow! I never knew there were so many variations of the Fleetwood Ghost Rider Cycle.

I both love and am perplexed seeing so much was produced for How the West was Won, which was only moderately successful as a film originally, much less as a mini-series and TV follow-up. It definitely doesn't scream merchandise in any incarnation. I wonder if Fleetwood just had some surplus western sets ready to go.

Wow, that was fun. Love how the cover images look like they were cut out by a 5 year old and pasted on the front. The Sgt. Rock package makes old Nick look like a hunchback! I think someone messed with that Severin artwork. Love the Ghost Rider (never knew of the smaller one either), and I still have my childhood Spidey acrobat push-puppet. He's beat all to heck, but I still have him!

I have all the Hulk item's shown in that catalog, but I would KILL for those Hulk display boxes...for real.
