This is the first superhero character I ever created for role-playing games. I met my best friend back in 1982 and we hit it off by making our own game. We initially used the Marvel Universe as our world, but branched off into a separate universe once we had accumulated an army of charcters.
This is Steel. Just by looking at him it's obvious he prepresents everything about the 80's. He's an indestrucable powerhouse with an unmatched will and sense of right and wrong. Every corner of the cosmos, other dimensions, planes of reality and levels of hell know who he is. He's a solver of problems and force for everything that's good. Alien races, ghosts, mythological gods have all come to him for help. He's stopped alien invasions, saved the life of Thor, puched Satan in the mouth and lived to tell the tales. All he asks for in return for his services is a token, a piece of their culture or technology he can use down the road to help others. He's got his All-Gun that basically shoots whatever he wants (lasers, freeze ray, shrink ray) and gloves that allow him to attach to any surface. He mostly travels around on a hover bike. He's like a mashup of Hulk Hogan and Ben Grimm. He's the most respected hero of our universe. When he speaks, people listen.
I used a Jakks body with a head I purchased from Austin at the Meet. I totally botched the neck plug, so this is glued. At the time I had no idea what it was from, but I've since learned it's an El Dorado head. I added the 80's stache. I never made the connection till recently how closely my design in the late 80's looks like Tom Strong. My camera is probably going to die soon, and this is the only picture that came out at all.
