View Full Version : What Mego Line Do YOU Want to See??

Feb 18, '08, 1:31 PM
Of all the great Mego lines, which one would YOU like to see make its return (ala Trek and Apes)?
Also which "never before done" line would you like to see be released in Mego stlye?
For me, besides the obvious WGSH, would be the Muhammad Ali boxing line or even Action Jackson. As far as a new line....the Six Million Dollar Man would be sweet!

I am all about getting those WGSH and as far as a new line done in Mego style as for current day I would love to see some That 70's Show done in a Mego line I mean this stuff writes itself! And I love that show so of course I would love to see figures for it.

I'd like to see the Trek universe expanded to include ST:TNG, ST:DS9, ST:VOY, and ST:ENT. Other than that I always thought Lost in Space would do well as an 8" line with all the goofy aliens they had. Seemed right up Megos alley. Plus a battery operated Robot would be cool as well.

I would like to see 8" Star Wars figures, the little 3 3/4 just never measured up.The thought of posable Luke an Han would would make me run for the doors at recess in the 5th grade again.A furry chewy and maybe even a r2d2 with lights and electronic beeping, who wouldn't want that.

How about a line based on any/all of the Sid & Marty Krofft shows? For me, I'd want Sigmund & the Sea Monsters, Land of the Lost, and Dr. Shrinker.
I would love to see the WGSH line revived with all new sculpts and outfits, and of course, new characters.
As far as a line never done, Star Wars would be the biggest nostalgic line I would like to see get the Mego treatment.

Although, I would buy the Logan's Run prototypes in 8" scale. But that would be way too niche...

This seems to be the favorite game of all mego fans. Every one I talk to - be they fan or pro - has their dream list of what they want to see mego-ized.
I have been telling people at Toy Fair that when Mego went out of business,
it was like the Dodgers leaving Brooklyn. It was a sad ending to a great
history. I compare EMCE Toys bringing back mego to the Dodgers coming
back to Brooklyn.
Play ball.

1 - ROBERT E HOWARD ---- Conan, Kull, Red Sonja (Dynamite might give you rights to the Marvel design), Solomon Kane!
2 - DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS --- You could sell a gazillion Drizzt figures! Tanis Half-Elven! Caramon! Raistlin! Elminster! Orcs! Lizard Men! All kinds of possibilities here.
3 - LORD OF THE RINGS -- The only problem here is that the Hobbits and Dwarves would require a whole new body. Might be too costly. But I'd love a Gandalf and Strider.

I say as long as it is profitable, feasible and makes good business sense for EMCE/Diamond to create each line requested (within reason of course) then go for it. The more the merrier!

ok, while I like the dark shadows Idea odds are against it, extra outfits for different times, yea, that would be cool. however how about the universal monsters, a mego take on the ahi figures. you could even do the the teen age werewolf and such. now of course the wgsh! that's a no brainer, with heroes that were never done, what everyone wants. how about the shield, the black hood, flyman, flygirl and the comet?. didn't lion rock do hard plastic figures of these heroes in the 80's?. I alway's thought land of the giants and a spindrift playset would have been cool. (we could have been the characters and the giants) voyage to the bottom of the sea, the time tunnel. re-do all the most popular original mego stuff first, that way some one without a collection could enjoy what we did, then introduce new stuff the way the trek figures are coming out. we've waited a long time for this stuff to return, what I think it say's is that mego made such a great toy in the 70's that it's just as good if not better than what's done today. gi joe, johnny west and MEGO! we had it pretty good. now "mego" by another name is back and this time around we have the money to spend on it all. I concur with'ya a spaghetti Western Clint Eastwood and probably some other western characters from cowboy shows (Gunsmoke) will be nice. Incidentally, F-troop will be a cool license in my eyes.

I am going to post again with more stuff for my wishlist:
#1 Star Trek
no Roman Numerals, no colon, no subtitle, just my favorite childhood toys, and those that should have been. (I would be interested in Animated Series characters too.) I will buy at least one of everything EMCE puts out. Yes, even a disco Mugato. Once Scottie reaches the stores, I will finally create my shelf full of Expendable Red Shirts: Lt. Lance Alott, Ensign Galahad, etc.
#2 Batman
the 1966-69 TV show with Adam West
I have made some customs, but EMCE getting that license and putting out actual, “real” figures from that series would be a dream come true for me.
#3 Planet of the Apes
my next door neighbor had all 10, so I never thought I needed my own personal set back then; I need to correct that error. I want anything and everything from all five movies, and both TV series. I will buy at least one of everything (tons of type-2 Soldiers) and supplement them with those horses the Doc is selling on his website. Taylor, ANSA Astronauts, Apes in Spacesuits, Mutants, Conquest Apes – bring ‘em on ! I am ready to spend spend spend ! Tim Burton’s POTA ? not interested.
#4 Space: 1999
I have CTVT’s, but I would gladly buy EMCE’s
#5 Gerry Anderson’s U.F.O.
greatly underappreciated, and horribly forgotten by everyone, this show with its silver bodysuits, Nehru jackets, and human-looking aliens in spacesuits was made for Mego-ization
#6 Logan’s Run
I really want 8” scaled repros of those prototypes – I WILL have them someday…..
#7 the Visitors
a series I thought of
My current project is buying Doc’s Alien heads molded in assorted colors with matching colored bodies and trying out different colored bodysuits. I found a guy online who makes Silver Surfer bodysuits, and the shiny material is perfect for these.
(I couldn’t name this series “Aliens” because that means something to us action-figure and SciFi geeks)
#8 WGSH
a big DUH! there
I do not think there is a single registered member of this forum that does not want that, and Green Lantern, Flash, etc etc
#9 Monsters
I have CTVT’s, but I would gladly buy EMCE’s
One can never have too many Monsters, especially in October in my house !
#10 Knights, Robin Hood, Pirates, American West
I am about to order CTVT’s any day now, so if EMCE has any announcement, I would appreciate it before I send all my Mego Money™ up to Rhode Island
#11 The Astronauts
another one of my no-license-required concepts, this time providing us with an assortment of NASA accurate and science fiction inspired spacesuits. Just imagine having a Mego-scaled Lunar Module and two Apollo astronauts. My God, that would bring tears to my eyes…..
#12 Six Million Dollar Man
a lot of Megoheads have been asking for this in this topic.
I never even thought of it, was not at all into it, but the more I think about a Mego sized Steve Austin, the more I like the concept
But until that remake is filming, can’t see any real appeal for DST to try to sell them.
#13 Bond, James Bond
#14 Zorro, Lone Ranger and Tonto
drmego
Feb 20, '08, 5:24 PM
I don't want to see you send any money to Rhode Island - it is the
sorriest excuse for a state I have ever seen. Long Island (Brooklyn,
Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties) would make a more impressive
state than Rhode Island.
Nassau and Suffolk counties alone rank #12 in U.S. population and
even higher in household income levels!
RI charges you to enter AND exit it - and it doesn't take more than
five minutes to do.
Seriously though - if you want to order CTV figures, go to
M&J Variety Distributors Toys and Collectibles - Retail and Wholesale (http://www.mjvar.com) and click on Action Figures - they bought
up large quantities of CTV and have MUCH better pricing and
customer service.

"mego" is back! call it what you want. duke, gil , jackie and pee wee. hmm! any body interested in those?.(well me, at least) mego lost in space? of course the jsa, the legion of super heroes, a marvel playset or two. jonny quest, birdman, space ghost, mighty mightor(yes, I know it was done) the avengers (tv) man from uncle. wait, hold on I'm checking my wallet. ok, I'm good for now. thanks dr. mego, this is a dream come true, whatever your able to do. p.s yellow jacket, the vision and bucky. drakghoulie

I'd buy anything "mego like", the groovy ghoulies, the archies, they did pvc figures of the ghoulies in the early 70's. after all it's not a far stretch from happy days and mad monsters to do the ghoulies. capt. scarlet?. we probably won't see most of it, but hey, the dream is closer than it was! re-doing swat? scooby do? any body want scooby do? marine boy? any body remember the card board marvel city? wouldn't it be cool to get maybe 4 or 5 play sets for mego that you could use for a marvel city. daily bugle, baxter building, avengers mansion, dr. strange's house and a villan hang out. I'm woosy. drakghoulie. p.s I always thought the hall of justice with a little re- decorating would have made a nice engineering playset for star trek.

I don't think anyone here would want these more than I do, but if I have to be honest, I don't see it happen. They can't even come to an agreement about the series on DVD, let alone action figures. :wall:
But I would love EMCE to prove me wrong. Please, pretty please?

I think I'd also like to see:
M*A*S*H - most of the figures would be dressed the same so that would help on cost. Plus you could mold the AJ jeep in green.
Gilligan's Island - I don't know why, I just would
Three Muskateers
Addam's Family
Gunsmoke and Best of the West - use pieces from the western line
Star Wars - if made I would buy them
No matter what you think of CTVT you have to give them props for expanding Happy Days, Mad Monsters and Space 1999 and launching new lines like Mad Clowns, Munsters, Brady Bunch, Married with Children and I Love Lucy. If only quality control had been better.

First off, a new member says "Hi" and thanks for providing an outlet for this particular addiction.
Second...Here's a Mego line I would like to see: "Supernatural." I think Sam and Dean Wincester could fit into Starsky and Hutch's old duds and the El Torino could be repainted as the Impala.
Also would love to see the Buffyverse get the Mego treatment...

Since Diamond already has the licenses, I could see Galactica (modern and classic) and Star-Gate figures. Wouldnt be interested in anything but the classic Galactica, but I think any of these would be highly likely.
Colf72
Feb 24, '08, 2:14 PM
I NEED them to get the WGSH back out there. As long as we got all the originals and the never mades (green lantern anyone?) I could deal with re-sculpts (Thing, Conan without barbie hair, modern Batman, Night wing etc) as long as the re-sculpts were done in addition to...
I can't see any of today's shows or films. I don't really know why but if it came out after Mego was gone I can't wrap my mind around doing it. I never really liked sitcom toys. They always seemed doomed to failure.
Retro wise I would love to see
The Lone Ranger and Tonto
8 inch Star Wars (maybe just the ones that Kenner did 12 inch figures of originally using
their sculpts made smaller)
Six Million Dollar Man
Indiana Jones
Classic Battlestar
I'd consider other Trek Lines if they were properly Mego-ized.
Pulsar
Captain Action Mego style figures are supposedly happening although not EMCE.
How about a Guns Of Navarone line?
Or a Disney 20,000,000 leagues under the sea? A Kirk Douglas Mego would own, James Mason too
I'd love to see a classic Turok Son Of Stone line, based on the original comic, with dinosaurs and cavemen and Indians. THAT would RULE!
Oh, and for whatever reason I do think a line of figures based on the new Mummy films would work. Even though it is new it feels right for whatever reason....
I would have loved, ande would still love Classic Escape From New York action figures done in any style. Mego or not. To date all that has ever been done to my knowledge was a McFarlane Movie Maniacs Snake Plissken and that was years ago.
Mad Max figures would be cool. The ones that came out a few years back were sculpted by a blind man.
I guess as long as it was based on Sci Fi, action, or adventure I would be down with it.
Oh and just got this idea how about Galaxy Quest?? and on that same note Forbidden Planet?? One was the basis for nd one was based on Trek.
