    A Question

Ok, I have to say, I suck at sewing, I suck at painting, I suck at sculpting heads. So, one might say that customisation is not my thing.

that being said, with a Zorro head, a mego body, a body suit, gloves, boots, a belt and a fonzie jacket, all obtained from CTVT, I put together a figure of my own all original character.

My question is, does this count as customising, or is this something else?

well if you want to get anal about it, that would be considered kit-bashing, but really it is all the same thing. So throw up some pics of your character and enjoy- Everyone has to start somewhere.

I'm in the same boat as you Dabill - I don't sew or cast or sculpt. But, just like customizing diecast cars that I have gotten better with over the years- we all start somewhere!

I'm starting as a basher but slowly starting to learn new things, like I successfully shaved off the mustache from a GI Joe Major Bludd in order to make him into Nick Fury.

You should post what you made- you never know when your creation will inspire someone else!

Sure it counts! Hey, My first custom was an Andorian body with trek boots and a Spock uniform as Thelan on the animated series. It's still one of my favorites still today and YES, it is a custom ; )

NONE of us were good at any of our skills when we started. Stick with it. Keep trying and you WILL improve. I promise!

Oh well if that is the case, my ver furst custom was when I was a kid. I had an extra Spock uniform, A Kirk and a Spock (either spock or Batman is the mego I have had the most of. I was hard on my toys, LOL) I put the uniflrom on, of all things, a Wizard of Oz Cowardly Lion to make an alien science officer. LOL. No idea what I called him.

Look at it this way, what you did is really no different than what Mego did back in the day.

They also call it designing at a toy company :D I read somewhere that back in the day, toy designer would scavange parts from defunct toy lines for newer toy concepts. So be proud of your original concept and post freely!!!
