For those who know, in business you have what is called a "fiscal" year which is almost never a normal calendar year of January 1st through December 31st. Typically, it begins and ends somewhere around the end of October/beginning of November.
That being said, my "customs" fiscal year runs from the beginning of one Mego Meet to the beginning of the next Mego Meet. So, without further adieu, my final custom for the fiscal year 2012 I present to you the Flash from the Golden Age - Jay Garrick.
The first time I ever saw this Flash was on the back cover of this giant-sized comic book...
To my wonderment my favorite super-heroes wore different costumes before and Flash looked like this...
He is built on a Mego T2 body. I enlarged a DC Direct GA Flash head, first run CAT boots, Mattel Black Manta belt, the suit is a one-piece printed suit by me. Paints by me as well.
I struggled with a couple things surrounding this character. My first thought was separate shirt and pants. But, I just couldn't get a pair of Mego jeans to look or fit the way I wanted them to. Second, do I put "wings" on his boots? I came to the conclusion Mego probably would not have and if they did they would be Kid Flashes head wings simply molded on the sides. So, I left them as is as well. The third was the lightning bolt. Most of us are used to seeing the huge lightning bolt protruding from his pants, but this was the first version I remember and the one I am fond of so I chose to stick with it.
Here is Jay with Wally and the Beave, er, I mean Barry.
My plan is to round out my Golden Age customs collection with GL, Hourman, Dr Midnite, Spectre, Hawkman, Wildcat, Dr Fate and Sandman. A formidable JSA if I do say so myself.
This one makes my 28th new custom posted here in the past "fiscal" year. Can't wait to see what is in-store for me after Mego Meet 2013. I appreciate all of you for coming along for the ride.
Hope you enjoy my customs as much as I do. And, as always, thanks for looking.
Peace, Love and Megos,
Austin
PS As an added bonus, here are my customs of Flash's Rogues Gallery. Enjoy!
