Hawk from Buck Rogers
As a kid, Hawk was my favorite Buck Rogers character. When ZICA announced their Buck Rogers series, I was most excited to get a Hawk action figure. Unfortunately, a Hawk figure never materialized so my only option was to build my own. The trouble was that I couldn’t find an acceptable solution to make the chest and back armor, nor did I trust my skills as a sculptor to make a head. That’s the reason I made Twiki and the Draconian Guard before tackling a Hawk figure.
One night, while looking at CTVT custom supplies, I saw that the black muscle body's chest looked a lot like the armor on Hawk. I ordered a body and cut the chest and back into the shape of the body armor on Hawk with an Xacto knife. Surprisingly, the chest piece fit perfectly over a ZICA body. That inspired me to try my hand at sculpting the head and the Hawk figure was hatched (pun intended).
Here’s the recipe:
•ZICA body.
•My head sculpt and paints.
•Armor made from Black CTVT muscle body. I drilled holes on the side and ran black string back and forth to create the laced effect.
•Arm feathers are vinyl leather-like material.
•Boots are CTVT Klingon style boots cut to shape.
•Gloves are CTVT black rubber gloves.
•CTVT black bodysuit (barely fits).
•Gun, holster and silver pin decoration modeled and printed in 3d. I’ll be reprinting the gun with higher resolution when I get the chance.
•I made the box to be in the style of the ZICA boxes.
