I agree with MEGOSTEVE....we need WGSH.....

I'd also love to see Muhammad Ali Megos with a new Joe Frazier and George Foreman wave.

Also Action Jackson is the Mego pioneer and deserves another run (Pailitoy didn't do him justice).

As for the Apes, I already own all of the originals. As for Trek, Mr Brady's Gorn would have me peeing my pants in excitement.

I'd also be interested in some "mego-like" tous from the seventies put into Mego format (Six Million Dollar Man, Big Jim's PACK, GI Joe Adventure Team and Pulsar/Hypnos)

However now Since Brady is involved with the project, I would have to say Sulu
Orion
A Movie Kahn
Worf..., Sure he is NG,.. but it would be cool to have many versions of this guy
Red Suit
Yellow Suit
Western Attire
Klingon Attire. For Me, Worf was the best character that Ever came out of Star Trek,.. next to Kirk & 7 of Nine. :wink_y:

But most of all, something current with todays market. Figures from the new Star Trek Movie Being made.

I'm much more into Trek than Apes though I want them all anyway. I think the Sulu and Chekov have to be the no brainer. They were regular characters and never made as Mego figures. That is an injustice that needs to be corrected. Would love to see the Brady Gorn come to life as well as the Trelane in that blue velvet suit. The Frank Gorshin Cheron/Bele would be awesome,(please make a nice rotocast Riddler head also when you make this). How about Space 1999?? With the success of Trek there obviously isn't any weakness in the Sci-Fi market. The license might be avalable also. I would think WGSH is still a longshot even at this point.

Action Martin

For Star Trek I think Sulu and Chekov would be no-brainers. Yeoman Rand and Nurse Chapel would be decent additions.

Flash and Green Lantern were two heroes that I always wished that we would have gotten in the WGSH line. Damn that Hall of Justice playset for teasing us.

Feb 10, '08, 9:08 AM
As others have said about the current Trek line, Chekov and Sulu seem obvious, and Rand and Chapel would be great too. Harry Mudd, female Romulan commander from Enterprise Incident and female Klingon commander from Day of the Dove also sound good. A decent Gorn would be great, as would a Cheron that isn't discolored. I'd really like to add Cyrano Jones to the wish list.

Journey to Babel would make a good set, Sarek, Amanda, and a Tellarite. Maybe the main characters in formal dress uniforms (Scottie in a kilt?). Ambassador Petrie and the Dohlman could be a set, too.

Trek stuff after ST-TMP, I don't know about, since Megos were gone by then.

Space 1999 figures would be cool, and Greatest American Hero Ralph - I was SO excited when I saw that on the VW Bug set, and never did find it, of course. Six Million Dollar Man would also be awesome, the 12 inch figures just aren't poseable.

WGSH goes without saying, but I have a feeling licenses are prohibitive.

OK, this is getting out of hand, I'm supposed to be cutting down on figures due to space restrictions, and now I want to put up shelves...

In regard to the apes what is the difference in Galen, Caesar and Cornelius? They're all Roddy McDowall so it's just a costume change is it not?

On the contrary... When you actually look at the three of them, there are differences... For instance, Caesar has a higher forehead than Cornelius...
Galen and Caesar both wear the same costume with no hieroglyphics, but Galen still looks different than Caesar (hair and forehead differences again).

MEDICOM made Cornelius and Caesar and they made them look visually different than each other... There's no reason that a good sculptor (or a few sculptors) couldn't capture the differences between the three chimps the way MEDICOM did...

Here is my want/wish list/two cents. I am most certain that I have without a doubt left out some good figures. Here is my list including and certainly not limited to the following:

WGSH line

Flash
Daredevil
Green Lantern
Lois Lane

Star Trek

Khan from The Wrath of Khan
Sulu and Chekov
Orion slave girl
Nurse Chapel
Lt Leslie
Tribbles
Mirror Mirror series

POTA

Nova
A more realistic and non cartoon looking General Urko
perhaps a few different looking soldier apes. (having all of the same soldier apes lined up next to one another when displayed looks a little drab in my opinion.
Silver tunic soldier ape

This would not be considered a figure, but a non battery operated, and non corded horse. (action stallion) or maybe a remote controlled version without wires. A better looking and more realistic version would also be welcomed. Not real high on my priority list. I just thought of it and thought what the heck.

While I am dreaming you might as well throw in the following as well...

horror films

Hellraiser line Pinhead and others from the movie

Space 1999 figures

Six Million Dollar Man line Steve Austin, Oscar Goldman, Bionic Woman, Big Foot, Fembots would all be cool in an 8" Mego size version

Original X-Men

Feb 11, '08, 11:22 PM
I was wondering when someone would suggest a Mirror, Mirror series. Bearded Spock for sure, and a Marlena would be cool.

On the Orion front, I vote Vina. Better costume, prettier face. (Sorry, bat-fans)

Kodos the Executioner! :)

As for other properties, it occurs to me that '70s-era Doctor Who could be a perfect fit for the Mego style. No idea what the situation is with the rights though.

Personally, I'd love any old Mego offering re-done. Any of them, because there's so much I'd love to get my kids interested in. Although, if it could be done, I'd like to see a Blade the Vampire Hunter from the Marvel comics of the 70's.

huedell
Feb 13, '08, 2:12 AM
I've always enjoyed making WGSH lists like this...
based on "BRONZE AGE" costumes to display alongside
the "original" WGSH collection as if they were from the
same era.

The most sensible "new old" figures, I think, would be...

DR. DOOM
LEX LUTHOR
FLASH
GREEN LANTERN
SPIDER-WOMAN
WOLVERINE
DR. OCTOPUS
RED SKULL
DR. STRANGE
BIZARRO
DAREDEVIL
SILVER SURFER
MAGNETO
STORM
PLASTIC MAN
GHOST RIDER
SUB-MARINER
ATOM
DR. SIVANA
HAWKMAN

Personally I'd love to see RHINO made, and I think he'd make a very
practical Marvel villain as he's pretty versatile---as he's like, a
Spidey villan--- that's almost a Hulk villain too
---and if not RHINO---then howse about ABOMINATION?

Also, I think BRAINIAC, DARKSEID, HAWKGIRL, MERA and MARTIAN MANHUNTER
all have gained momentum over the years when it comes to
"bankability"

Also, personally, I think BLACK MANTA and CHEETAH deserve
a shot ---as WW and AM deserve at least one arch-villain
--in a perfect Mego-world ;)

And, just for kicks---I'll add ELECTRO to the list as I've
always liked his look---and when FAMOUS COVERS made
him, I thought that was a savvy move on their part.

Prez.Tonic
Feb 13, '08, 5:26 AM
Wow huedell, that's pretty close to MY wishlist!!

There are so many obvious choices for the WGSH that never saw the light of day. I'm a huge fan of Super Friends and would love to see any heroes and vilians (even Zan & Jana).

When I was a kid, I made my own Rhino figure out of an extra Hulk. I glued the top of a Bic pen to his head for a horn and painted the body silver-grey. He actually turned out pretty good considering I was only 13.

I'd really like to see EMCE take a stab at the 12" line with a Riddler & Aquaman made exactly like their 8" cousins.

huedell
Feb 13, '08, 7:27 PM
Hi Prez. :)

That RHINO story was real charming---I love hearing about the "kids"
that customized their figures back when we were younger
(I wasn't quite as creative!) Great character choice too!

A twelve inch Aquaman would be killer---as it would "finish up"
the "SF FIVE" in 12 inch scale---Riddler would be great---
and I'd actually like to seea 12 inch Joker---Jokers' my fave :)

Thanks for saying nice things about my list---I'd hope it was somewhat
attractive because even tho' its inately interesting merely due
to "What If..." factor...its really more "practical" than anything else

My list above was huge, and chances are they'd never get to the sheer quantity
of what I called the "bankable" ones---TWENTY in all

In other words, I thought THOSE twenty would be the most bankable

In the follow-up lists, I had TEN more (that's THIRTY so far!)----
and----I think I could easily add ELEKTRA to that list as well. :)

I am a big fan of the Super Friends as well---any of those characters
would make me thrilled whether their design came closer to their "TV image"
or their image from the comicbooks which in many cases were very close
anyway.

Adding characters popularized on THAT (SF) show?

Wow, were talking at least TEN more characters right there.

We're up to 40 PLUS characters that could be justified as
possible logical choices for a "new WGSH" line---if only taking
popularity into consideration

CONCLUSION:
If and when the WGSH get a relaunch---there's QUITE a
challenge when it comes to picking new characters :)

A real victory would be making a BLACK LIGHTNING figure---real 1970s charm---
and its been really hard to get the rights to that character for just about anything :)

fumetti

Obviously, there's a lot of passion for a revival of the WGSH line!

Okay, so here's what I know for certain I would buy if made in a new WGSH line...

Remade vintage:
Shazam!
Aquaman
All the Fantastic Four

New offerings:
Green Lantern (Hal)
Green Lantern (Alan)
Flash (Barry)
Flash (Jay)
any of Flash's Rogues Gallery
Hawkman
Atom
Namor
Doctor Strange
Doctor Doom

Yep, I'm much more interested in new designs than old redos.

Feb 19, '08, 9:19 AM
If the WGSH line started over, for DC I would start it with a Challenge of the Super Friends line, releasing a hero with a villain, like the Trek aliens with a cast member. They could use the TV show as a template for the characters but also branch off to do other characters.

I'd love to see a Golden Age Green Lantern vs. Solomon Grundy down the line

Actually, they could even call the line The Challenge of the Super Heroes and include Marvel heroes with one of their villians.

With the FF, maybe release all 4 characters at once or possibly two at a time or Maybe:

Mr. Fantastic vs. Dr. Doom
Invisible Woman vs. Sub Mariner
Human Torch vs. Kang
Thing vs. the Mole Man
12 inch Galactus

Obviously they aren't going to go making all of these so I will **** the ones I think really could/should happen. Rule of thumb, any character who appeared in two or more episodes and had speaking lines and a name should get made.

****Ruk - What Are Little Girls Made Of (My favorite alien/villain/android)
****Mudd - Mudd's Women, I, Mudd (2nd Favorite)
****Kevin Thomas Riley - The Naked Time
Spock and crewman in red enironmental suit - The Naked Time
****Pike - Cage/Menagerie
Wheelchair Pike - Cage/Menagerie
Kaylar (cave man who fight sPike on Rigel VII)
****Orian Slave Girl - The Cage/The Menagerie,
****Sarek - Journey To Babel (could also use the head to make a Romulan Commander from Balance Of Terror)
Lazarus - The Alternative Factor
****Cyrano Jones w/tribbles - Trouble With Tribbles
****Gary Seven w/Isis cat - Assignment Earth
Spock's Brain Spock - Spocks Brain
Kirk As Vulcan - The Enterprise Incident
Environmental Suited Spock, Kirk, McCoy - Tholian Web
Alexander - Plato's Stepchildren
Garth - Whom God's Destroy
Mr Atoz - All Our Yesterday's
***Salt Creature - The Man Trap - would make an excellent Mego
Mirror Mirror Crew - Mirror Mirror
Rand
Chapel

and I did cheat by going to Star Trek .com and looking through the episode guide. I still probably left off some.

A Ted Cassidy head would so rule.

I agree. Perfect Mego material.

Oh, I still would love to see all the original Trek and Apes Mego items made as close to original as possible. Some of those trek aliens are really hard to take but I still want 'em!

Now that Sulu and Chekov have been announced (yes!), the Trek figure I most want is Nurse Chapel. When I was a kid, these were the three characters I most wanted in my collection, as they were all present through so many of the classic episodes. If EMCE does make Chapel (fingers crossed!), I really hope she has rooted hair so she'll fit in with Uhura. (It also just seems more classic Mego-ish for her to have rooted hair.)

After Chapel, there are lots of characters I'd love to see. Several of you have mentioned Mr. Leslie, which is a great idea (a redshirt!). As a kid, I remember dreaming about getting other recurring crew characters like Kyle, Rand, M'Benga, Riley, and DeSalle. It would be cool to see some of the better villains and guest characters like Harry Mudd, the female Romulan commander, the Salt Vampire, the Tellarite, and more Klingons. I would also love to see non-humanoid characters like the Horta and Nomad.

OK so here is my wish list for EMCE Star Trek

First how about some crew fill ins?

1. A Red shirt security guy. Lt Clarke maybe? A good way to immortalize Dr Mego for bringing mego trek back.

2. A female yeoman Red outfit or female medical officer in blue

Aliens (some of these never had any toy recognition at all)

1. Neptunian (My favorite as a kid)

2. An Iotian - Assessories include 20s gangster outfit, "Heater" Thompson machine gun, Mcoys "Blower" communicator and a book about Chicagos Mobs

3. A Neo Roman from planet 892- Assessories could include Vac metallized centurian armor, A microphone for announcing tonights heats and a machine gun for dealing with unruly "contestants"

4. Space Lincoln (Excalbian)- Hey why not? Assessories to include spear.

5 Cappellan- Funky outfit and cool throwing knives. Leonard James Akaar could meet his namesakes after 20 years.

6. Ruk the android - Give Ted Cassidy his due

And well I know technically hes not an alien but how about.

Christopher Pike - He could come in his wheel chair with a scarred alternate head. And since the chair covered his torso. he could have his regular Star fleet uniform under and have a regular head so you can have your Talosian illusian Pike figure.

Nomad was a good idea. It could have a clear stand to make it appear hovering, lights and sound.

What about an Apollo figure? A 12" figure would be inscale with the 8" figures.
(Well an end of the episode Apollo any way)

That's Funny. I had a Big Jim that I used to use as Apollo to my Kirk Mego back in the 70's because it was a larger figure.

I don't think I would be too interested in things that didn't look Mego-Like, i.e. the Pike Wheelchair or the Nomad figure. Also, even though I'm a huge Trek fan, I think I would get bored if new lines/non-Trek didn't come out. I don't think it would be necessary to do every character. Just some of the key missing regulars (and, per the other thread, an animated character done Mego-style)

Adding my voice to the votes for a Ruk figure. And while we're on the "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" episode, how about that hot little android Andrea?

Both Andrea and the afore-mentioned Vina bring up a Mego-specific question: How to best simulate William Ware Theiss' famously skimpy costume designs? We're talking a lot of bare midriffs, off-shoulder deals, and the occasional exposed hip or thigh. Basically, anywhere a figure body would have visible articulation.

In the old days, Mego solved this with cloth bodysuits, but I could see a Vina costume working with skin-colored vinyl panels built into the dress. Thoughts?
