    Blake's 7 Cosmic Strike Force

This one blew my mind, UK Toy distributor Jotastar (who sold a lot of AHI stuff in the UK) plastered the Blake's Seven logo on some unrelated friction space ships in the early 1980s.

They have no relation to the program but I must admit I want them. For those not in the know, Blake's Seven was a series produced by the BBC and created by Terry Nation who also spawned the Daleks.

While it had lower production values than Doctor Who, it was kind of a dark show and really ahead of it's time. Which makes the concept of cheapy rack toys even more sublime...

    Hmmmm....

I remember there was a toy like that of the actual ship from the show, and they were sold here in HUGE quantities in generic packaging. I had a few of them, even though I didn't know what they were until years later when YTV ran the show.

I had a couple of small die cast versions of the Liberator, made by Corgi if I recall.

Yeah, I had the Corgi too, it was not hard to find in Canada. I don't know if it was because of Starlog but I had the vaguest notion that there was a show called "Blake's 7". One of my friends had even claimed to see it on family trip to the states.

When YTV started playing it in the 80s, i realized I had been playing with my Liberator backwards for years.

I have the diecast Liberator, thought that was pretty much it.

I'd like to see a few customs of this series. Kerr Avon was awesome!

Man, I somehow missed this show all together. I've heard the name, that's it. I have no idea what it's even about.

Chris, it wasn't hard to miss as I don't think it saw a lot of US airtime. It aired for a while in Canada during the late 1980s, which how I ever got into it. I don't think it's available on DVD either, it's like they don't want people to see it.

The show is very dystopian and deals with a lot of adult themes. It is somewhat hampered by it's production values but it's a solid, well acted premise. The way the characters bicker and fight kind of reminds me of the BSG remake and other shows.

I'm in the same boat, but it does sound interesting.

I did exactly the same thing! I had the Corgi ships quite a while before I actually saw the show, and when I finally saw an episode I was like... huh? It flies that way?

I am such a huge fan of Blake's 7. I remember when they started playing it, I was against it until I saw a few episodes. Great TV.

We got Blake 7 back in the 90's on our local PBS. Must have been a package deal when they got the Old Doctor Who episodes. They ran it out of sequence and it seemed episodes were missing which made it hard to follow. So I lost interest quick. I would have like to see it in order and beginning to end. Much like the older Dr. Who. I really like well writen and acted Sci-Fi reguardless how poor the special effect budget is.
