It's time once again to be whisked back to a simplier time, one that was dominated by "Mom and Pop" toy chains and the wonderful, almost chaotic way toys were distributed.

Vintage Toy Store Shots thirteen features images from a former Mattel employee, who seemed to in charge of taking shots of retail displays and while Mattel stuff is in the fore ground, there is a lot of neat stuff going on in these like a whole display of Mego Cher dolls....

Wow, toy depts were fun back then. So boring now, although Target does put some effort into it, with large displays. Most chains just use those aisle divider thingees.

That crazy Slime kid gets around. He's almost become another PS celebrity like Brick and Guy Karate. Someone should try to track him down for an interview...

Vintage Toy Store Pictures is a great series. I have looked thru them a number of times. Makes me wish I was a little older (well...almost!) and could have witness much of it from my youth.

There really isnt much excitment in the toy aisle now.

Just saw this and I'm glad I did! It's only a pre-school layout, but it's from my favorite discount chain, Two Guys. AND it's from my home town of Philadelphia.
